School mum at my dd school is adament that no one , unless they have been brought up with zero manners would pick their nose and eat it ? One poor 5year old was in the home time queue and he was having a right good rummage and eating his findings from his nose . Most mums found it funny but one said that the dc was disgusting and had not been brought up to have manners ? I said that most people at some point have ate their bogeys and it's no big deal . Aibu to think the dc was just being an innocent kid or should our kids be conscious and aware that picking their noses in public is deemed un acceptable? I'm sorry but il admit even as an adult Iv picked my nose and in privacy have ate it ? I'm sure most people do and so bloody what !

All day long, even when you don't have a cold or anything, the ciliated epithelial cells in your lungs and airways move mucus up to the top of your oesophagus. If you're not spitting it out, you're swallowing it. It's the body's normal disposal route.

I love it when a huge crusty booger forms in the nose . The satisfaction of removing it while is immense . I have however not eaten it in my adult years and dispose of them in a tissue. I will admit to loving it when Iv had a snotty nose / cold and revelling in howcking out the booger that's blocking me being able to breathe . It's so so satisfying . I am a complete sporner though and love anything like that . I love squeezing people's spots and blackheads . Yep I'm weird but apparently it's a "thing" and many people like this stuff ?

Iv licked plenty of runny nose sort of snot when you have a cold as a child and it runs down your face but never a squishy actual bogey . Bork.

Altho as a pp pointed out we constantly produce mucus and swallow it all the time

It's our own body so it's not really that disgusting is it ?? I mean if you think of what other things we do i.e. Oral sex (bj's , etc) , finger in the butt or worse tongue in the butt etc etc really a bogey is nowt

For the record Iv never ever put my tongue in a butt. I'm just saying what some people do and think nothing about the hygiene etc

I have had to move seats on many a train when sitting opposite people who pick their nose and eat it.

My DD (just turned 3) spends her whole time with tongue up her nose - she's a nervous child and I think it's a comfort thing? She doesn't let up when she has a cold. She also picks her nose and eats it, it turns my stomach and I tell her EVERY time it's revolting, it makes no difference, I really hope she grows out of it!

Ok, so that is disgusting but you can't expect a five year old to know better (especially when most of his peers are doing it too).

I thought it was an essential way to build your immune system. Bugs in your snot make it to the stomach where a really good immune response is primed.
I'm astonished that someone exists that has never eaten their snot! It's not pleasant to see anyone do it but a little 5 year old who is bored in a queue and lost in his own thoughts ( and nose) gets a pass.

That's what I said to the mum at the school . She said her children would never ever pick their noses and eat it and thought that the child who did it today was very ill mannered

When my sister was about 4 she picked my friends nose and ate it. We were about 6 or 7 and it grossed us out yet seemed hysterical at same time! That school mum has led a sheltered life.

I caught my 2 year old picking her little brother's nose and eating it the other day, grim!!

I can't say I pick my nose and eat it as an adult but I have to say I had loads of fun with sinusitis for 2 weeks over Xmas. Although I was very ill and it was painful, the 30 minutes I spent blowing my nose each morning was hugely enjoyable (however, I didn't eat the huge clumps of snot).

I still vividly remember (and secretly fantasise about) when I was 1 day post c/s in hospital with my youngest, with a shocking cold and cough.
The room was boiling and bone dry, i must have had a 2 min doze and woke up totally bunged up. Had a good root around and hooked out the biggest bogey known to man. It just didn't stop coming out. I think it must have reached down my feet inside. The feeling of air rushing into my nose again is up there with my best ever moments :-/
