I go round and round and round and round in circles. Then round and round and round some more.

I know the science. Eat less, move more.

I’m lazy. I have little time to do a workout. I love junk food. I am my own worst enemy.

I know where I go wrong. I know my excuses too...

I’m wondering what worked for YOU.

Just clean eating? Slimming world or weight watchers? Going vegan?

I lost 3.5st on a VLCD last year. Have kept it off since June, and am about to tackle the last stone.
All the diets work. It's the mindsets that have to change. So -

  • weigh yourself twice a week
  • know your weaknesses (sugar/crunch/booze)
  • work out what your excuses are
  • chuck out your fat clothes
  • don't fall into the "just one won't hurt" trap
  • don't apologise for being on a diet
  • learn to live with hunger. I don't mean, you'll be hungry on your chosen diet and you'll just have to put up with it - I mean, observe yourself when you're hungry, how it ebbs and flows, enjoy it sometimes. Obviously you don't want to be so hungry you would eat the coffee table but push the boundaries, experiment, see how much you can take. Do you feel hungry when you wake up, for example. I don't, and if I don't eat then I can easily not feel hungry until lunchtime. If I do, though, I feel hungry all day. So watch how hunger and habits interact.

Beardedlobster- that is an amazing loss. Well done. And your approach is so sensible.

Before I had my daughter I was 9st. After pregnancy and up until she was 2.5 years old I was 11st 2lb. Went gym for a month (3 times a week to do treadmill and swimming) and got down to 10st in that time. Stopped gym and started occasional runs in the park, cutting down on junk and smaller portions. 6 months later i was at 9st and since then my weight has been steady around 8st 10. Last summer i had dropped to 8st 2 but put weight back on again after 6 weeks on holiday due to junk eating more than I did before. Am now 8st 11.

Slimming world
Lost nearly 2 st and it's stayed off but it is easy to go off it .
My only concern is it doesn't allow many good fats unless they are synned such as advocado and nuts and I think they are v good for you .

I read about my fitness pal on mumsnet and it has been a revelation! Losing a pound a week and still having treats. It's linked to my fitbit. Also excercise every day.
