To be worryingly attracted to The Rock...

Spent many happy years barely aware of the man's existence. Then I go and see Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

And think...hmm.. he's quite...fit...

And then...hmm... funny, too....

And then... and able to laugh at himself...

Which has basically morphed into a total midlife crisis obsession. I am even contemplating watching the Baywatch movie, FFS, because he spends most of it running around topless.

I can't be the only one. Can I?

The more he injects himself with anabolic steroids the better he looks.

Ireallylovetea2 · 27/01/2018 21:02

He's not really the usual type that I go for, but he's won me over by being really funny, and he seems like a really nice guy that can have a laugh at himself, so what more could you want? The smoulder was the final nail in my coffin though!

revengeongc · 27/01/2018 22:26

I'm trying not to think about the 'roids issue and the possibly resulting, erm, side effects. No. Not happening Grin

Currently watching Fast and Furious 8. There is genuinely no hope for me.

The Rock rocks... You should check out his Instagram account!

revengeongc · 28/01/2018 22:33

For the Rock lovers:

He can sing too!

Just realised that the Rock is in Fast and Furious 8...with Vin Diesel.

and Jason Statham AND Scott Eastwood.

Holy Mary mother of god who cares if the storyline is shit Grin

revengeongc · 28/01/2018 23:00

Heheheheh. It's worth a watch.

Feeling slightly uncomfortable that this is major objectification...

Having said that, the first scene with the Rock is absolutely adorable. Doing the Haka with his daughter's football team.

I’m quite a big wrestling fan and a lot of wrestlers from his era have some stories about their bad behaviour floating around but The Rock is generally known as a good egg, albeit a company man.

dontticklethetoad · 28/01/2018 23:03

RNBrie that's what did it for me too. Had barely looked twice at him before, but there was something about him miming to Taylor Swift that set my heart racing Grin

Gudgyx · 28/01/2018 23:05

San Andreas on Netflix now OP, defo worth a watch if you haven’t seen that. Did u enjoy fast?

Also I don’t think he takes steroids. Maybe that’s rose tinted glasses but I really don’t!

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 28/01/2018 23:10

Nah I don’t think he takes steroids but he does eat a large amount of food. I think if he took steroids it would have been back in his wrestling days, there was a need to heal quick otherwise you could lose your spot. But again, I never heard anything about him taking anything, not saying he didn’t but when you compare with guys who you knew definitely were - there was a difference both in looks and off stage behaviour,

There’s a YouTube challenge based on him and his diet. It’s a ridiculous amount of food, I’m surprised he doesn’t get stitched.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 28/01/2018 23:10

Stitches*

JustGettingStarted · 28/01/2018 23:12

I liked him in Pain and Gain.

I made my husband watch Central Intelligence, which he didn't expect to enjoy but he loved it. Then I got him into Ballers and now DH has a full-blown man crush.

I would be pretty overwhelmed if I were actually, you know, with him. He's a bit OTT in the good looks department. But he's a lot of fun to watch on the screen.

JustGettingStarted · 28/01/2018 23:16

I do think he takes steroids. You can't get that big with that sort of definition without them.

Nobody admits they're on them, but if athletes are not being subjected to Olympic Committee levels of testing, then they are. Even the so-called "natural" bodybuilding competitions are juiced up (they just game it.) Johnson is deeply invested in being built like a bodybuilder, nobody is testing him, and so there's no reason to believe that he's not.

Mcakes · 28/01/2018 23:16

Dear god no!
He has that bodybuilder/steroid thing going on where his head is too small for his body and his arms don't touch the side of his chest so it makes his forearms look dangly and weird. He is far, far too shiny, like a cheap polished pebble from a gift shop. AND to top it off, he has that smug look in his eyes that says he reckons he's god's gift.
Glad to hear he's a sound person by all accounts but looks wise it's all the no's from me!

LemonysSnicket · 28/01/2018 23:21

I even like him as Maui in Moana Blush

revengeongc · 28/01/2018 23:36

Mcakes, I get it. He's so, so, so not the type I normally go for.

I blame Jumanji. He's got muscles and a sense of humour and he effortlessly channels a nerdy, geeky, Jewish teenager. What's not to love?

Mcakes · 29/01/2018 13:45

Ahhh, ok.
I've only seen him in Tooth Fairy (which was, obviously, godawful and he spent most of the time cracking homophobic jokes in a pink tutu so I realise I may have not seen the best of him!) Have also just read that he sacked his agents after that movie Grin
Maybe I'll give Jumanji a watch sometime and see if I change my mind...

TobleroneBoo · 29/01/2018 13:51

@Whiterabbitears yes to Roman Reigns 😍😍

revengeongc · 29/01/2018 14:21

This did make me LOL "He is far, far too shiny, like a cheap polished pebble from a gift shop." Grin

Jumanji is ACE. Seriously funny (properly laugh out loud funny), great cast, some affecting moments, good character development. Even if you don't fancy the Rock, you'll enjoy it.

OP posts:
Whiterabbitears · 29/01/2018 14:24

Tobleroneboo I've been obsessing about Roman since discovering him here, how have I not known about him before?

missnevermind · 30/01/2018 01:24

Speaking of Lip Sync Battle. And bald men. I give you
Terry Crewes.

To be worryingly attracted to The Rock...
taytopotato · 30/01/2018 02:06

Terry Crewes- loved him in White Chicks but not so keen on the Old Spice Commercials. I much preferred Isiah Mustafa's Old Spice.

Whiterabbitears · 30/01/2018 02:51

Oh yes Terry Crews!! I have loved him since White Chicks, you ladies all have excellent taste Wink

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/01/2018 04:14

Terry Crews is lovely. Seems so genuine and comfortable with himself. DH and I both have a crush on him!
