Thank you. You made a really shit day a little bit brighter.

I was in a hospital before and rather upset over some news and got really flustered at the pay machine for parking when i realised i had no money and needed a cash machine and didnt know how to get my ticket back out and was getting in a right state and the lovely lady in the queue behind me paid my £3 parking.

Its nice to know lovely people still exist in the world. Smile

That’s so lovely. Smile

We should all look out for more chances to make someone’s life a little bit better like this.

glueandstick · 20/01/2018 17:37

I read something this week that made me smile.

‘Always be a bit kinder than necessary’

Good words to live to.

WorraLiberty · 20/01/2018 17:38

Aww that's lovely.

Did she say she was a Mumsnetter?

If not, she probably has far more chance of seeing this if you post in a local Facebook group.

Shineystrawberrylover · 20/01/2018 17:40

That's lovely x

How lovely - hope you are doing OK after the bad news, OP.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 20/01/2018 18:04

That was nice of her. Did you not thank her at the time?

Urubu · 20/01/2018 18:07

Exactly, pay it forward!
A nice young man paid for my bus journey when I realized I left the house without my card to do the school run, the next time I had the occasion I paid for someone else's.

FittonTower · 20/01/2018 18:13

I paid a ladies bus fare last winter. It was freezing, she had a very cold and tired looking toddler and the bus driver was being a nobber and wouldn't accept her tenner for her bus fare. I knew he had change, I was sat right at the front and had seen him take plenty of fares. Poor women looked so upset that he wouldn't let her on the bus but I think I got more out of it then she did. I had a warm fuzzy glow all day and the bus driver looked well annoyed that I stepped in - cherry on the top.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/01/2018 18:23

You'll get your chance to pass it on.😀
The world is full of amazing people, it's a shame others choose to spoil it.

Blackteadrinker77 · 20/01/2018 18:28

What a lovely selfless thing to do.

Bowerbird5 · 20/01/2018 18:29

Good for you Fitton.
That was lovely of her Pickleypickles( love the name) she was probably glad to help. We've all been there with parking in a hurry at hospitals.
Lent is coming up in a few weeks. Last year instead of giving something up like chocolate, wine etc we were asked to think about doing something. I tried to do something nice( sorry) for someone every day. It made a whole new outlook to Lent for me and hopefully the receiver. So I did simple things like smile at a stranger to buying flowers for some and making cakes. I made a meal for someone too. I do sometimes do these things but a made a conscious effort to do it every day. Sometimes it was for one person and sometimes for a group. Try it, I found it makes you look out for people more especially those that need a hand. I paid for some kids who didn't have enough money for ice- creams when another turned up. They were delighted. One of the boys always said hello after that and a few weeks later he died. I was so pleased I did it and made their day as I bought them more expensive ones. It is a poor area and I thought I bet they never have a magnum or a cornetto.

Shock

Lovely thread, but also that's terribly sad and shocking if it's not a typo. Flowers to all you lovely folk. I will try to keep the thread in mind as I go about my days.

RainingOutside99 · 20/01/2018 18:46

Someone paid my bus fair once when I got on without any cash and was in a complete state. I never thanked them and I wish now I had. I was so grateful.

RainingOutside99 · 20/01/2018 18:48

Pay it forward!

eddielizzard · 20/01/2018 18:48

lovely.

the kindness of strangers.

it's far easier to be kind to strangers than those closest to us. i also keep that in mind and try hard with my dh. that sometimes is really hard when he's especially annoying Grin

Majuna · 20/01/2018 18:50

There are some lovely people around Flowers

SlummyMummy77 · 20/01/2018 18:51

I just love a good random act of kindness. Who knows where they will end. One act sparks a series x

Silvercatowner · 20/01/2018 18:52

Yeah I've done this. Not at all a selfless act - I expect the recipient will either put the money in the charity box or pass it forward.

BaldricksTrousers · 20/01/2018 18:59

I was parking to take dd to a doctor's appointment once. I was about 40p out from an hour and the Phone and Pay app wasn't working, and neither was the service to call to pay. I even rang dh to do Phone and Pay on his phone but it wasn't working for him either. I was getting so stressed as there was no time to return home when a man gave me the change I needed. He probably doesn't remember it now but I do--it was such a relief and such a nice thing to do.
