Why can't people just 'watch' or on facebook 'turn on notifications'. Interested in a thread and you see some activity only to discover somebody has just added a dot or a f.

I think it's really cheeky to write 'marking my place' and not say anything. I mean you could just have an OP and everyone else marking their place. Which would be a bit boring to say the least.

Agree, what is the point of placemarking when there is a 'watch this thread' function and a 'save your place' one?

They are never really that interesting and you can see them anyway if you just click on a topic that's been removed. Do they go to thread commenters directly via email or something (I have never had any, but maybe it is a setting)

There is no 'save your place' or bookmark function on my phone. If you click on 'bookmark' it says 'feature coming soon'. There isn't a 'watch thread' at all. I'd never '.' place mark though as it's bloody rude, particularly on threads where someone is suffering.

I can’t find a bookmark option anywhere! I’m on the mobile site, is that why?

I swipe left on my app. Either on the thread heading to watch the whole thing; or on an individual post to bookmark from there. Next time I go into the thread it takes me to that post.

Not all of us are on fb and use mn directly. I havent yet found a way of placemarking a post i want to follow without adding a contribution. So . Or f does just that.
