To expect Tesco's to question my order?

This may make you laugh .

I started a tesco order online and booked a delivery slot and checked out so as not to lose the slot.
Had just put 2 avacados in the basket and got distracted by the children.
Went back to it later and forgot I had started the other order and proceeded to place another order for a few days time.

A couple of days later saw a Tesco van pull up outside and thought they are delivering the wrong day.
Up the path comes the Tesco man with 2 avacados in his hand for which I was charged £5.99 delivery.

How embarassed I felt,he must have thought she has more money than sense.
I did'nt question it ,just took them from him and quickly shut the door.

I would have thought as I am a regular customer Tesco would have rung me to question this.

Has anyone else done this or is it just me?

Sooo funny, you couldn't make it up, could you! The only funnier thing would have been if you'd ordered melons instead!

We ordered cat food, and had a substitute delivered ... dog food. Not very useful.

obimomkanobi, for the first time ever while MNing I've literally cried with laughter. Hilarious!!

After reading this I'm a bit insulted that twice in the last month Sainsburys have rung me up to check I really needed only the three bottles of champagne I had ordered to secure the delivery slot (I usually delete them when I remember to put on my more humdrum food).

I'm obviously not giving a very good impression of leading an affluent lifestyle!

I ended up with 6kg of sausages once, I mean, I like sausages but ...

stitch · 27/04/2007 23:03

my neighbour once had 10 kilos of carrots!

when dd was a week old, i ordered huggies newborn nappies. when the delivery came, no nappies, coz the store had run out of huggies ones.
i rang the store and told them about my six day old dd, my 18 month old ds2, and ds1. and that i was physically incapable of going out to buy nappies, did they not have ANy other make instore?
they sent me some pampers nappies later that same day. the bloke who delivered them did look silly walking up the drive with just the nappies in his hadn and the cheeky sod did question it,
but hey, mistakes happen

Oh, that op made me LOL!

We order a mobile phone every week to reserve the slot and use a voucher code, and then come back to it later. We have had a few close calls, but have never actually recieved the phone (yet!)

I once recieved a dozen packets of a dozen pork pies from tesco, which I didn't order ( obviously, as pork pies are foul). Tescos encouraged me to keep them (free) but I insisted they come and collect them - what on earth was I going to do with 144 pork pies???

stitch · 27/04/2007 23:04

tp, i also got the wrong size nappies. if i order size 4, then surely anyone with half a brain cell would reqaalise that sixe 3 is useless?

Astrophe · 27/04/2007 23:11

Tesco - eVERY LITTLE HELPs

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2007 23:11

Oh no, you always get something in another size, but the same brand

Asda delivered my shopping today, DH not at all happy, ordered Cherry Pie, ended up with Apple.... ordered Red grapes, ended up with Green.... ordered Caesar salad, ended up with NONE (don't they know I have friends over this wkend !),.... ordered various tins of baby food, ended up with NONE (don't they realise babies have to eat !!!!!!)
Overall, a shopping disaster, will STILL have to go out tomorrow morning before friends arrive.... GGRRRRRRRR ... At least ASDA charge you the cheapest price if they substitute, Tesco charge you for what you get (if the substitute is dearer, you pay more for the pleasure of something you didn't want !).

Astrophe · 27/04/2007 23:20

yes, asda are good with charging less, but i really find their website much harder to use. It such a pain when you spend time ordering online and end up having to go to the shops anyway
