It looks too good to be true. Huge storage for shopping and bags. Even a built in seat for older child!
Is it any good though?
My DH is 6 foot 5 and needs it to be tall and it needs to be decent off road.
Thanks in advance!

We have an Uppa Baby Vista and it's brilliant. We have a rumble seat for the toddler and a buggy board for ds1 and it has a huge space for shopping as the main seat is so high. With all the attachments and me pushing it we are about 2m long tho, but it isn't wide and i find it quite easy to push - even with my 3 lumps and shopping in it!

MrsKoala · 20/01/2018 15:48

Oh and me and DH are tall and because the UBV is so high it's perfect for us - you can extend the handle quite far back/up. We had a mountain duet but it gave me back ache and was really low to the ground.

Girlsworld92 · 20/01/2018 15:54

I looked at this and it's got really good reviews & is on offer at toys r us. I ended up going for the duo stadium as mine needs to fit 2 x 18 month olds & a buggy board.

Whosafraidofvirginiawoofwoof · 20/01/2018 15:59

Uppababy Vista with rumble seat gives you better options with and without your 4yo and is good off road

Whosafraidofvirginiawoofwoof · 20/01/2018 16:03

sorry, x post with @MrsKoala but love my Uppababy so much I posted quickly without reading the thread properly!

Buxbaum · 20/01/2018 16:05

Look at the length of the wheel base. It will have the turning circle of an articulated lorry.

Buxbaum · 20/01/2018 16:07

Joolz, Stokke and Uppababy all good for tall parents. Avoid Bugaboo.

mishfish · 20/01/2018 17:14

I’ve got trough my fair share of doubles and can honestly say my mountain buggy duet has been my absolutely fave. Worth every penny.

Elementally · 20/01/2018 18:31

Right at 4 he won't be needing a double buggy. Get a really sturdy thing like a single Nipper or Single Mountain buggy. It's non official usage but you can sit him on the footplate, the hood or he can sit in the seat and put baby in a sling. At some point in the next year or so he is going to have to walk. You can't put a 5 - 6 year old in a buggy. If there was no baby you wouldn't be taking a buggy out just for him would you.

MrsKoala · 20/01/2018 18:52

My 5.4 yo often sits in the rumble seat on the Uppa baby Vista happily - sometimes they are tired and i walk a lot and fast.

If you want to do shopping do not get the Mountain Buggy duet there is hardly any room. Also it only works if your kids are small. My whoppers had to sit sideways and their knees were under their chins. They kept grazing their hands and toes of their shoes along the floor as it's so low down and getting in peoples way walking past. I constantly had bruises on my shins from putting it down. And when it's down it takes up as much space as when it's up. Really it's a terrible buggy!

DotCottonDotCom · 20/01/2018 20:05

@Elementally Please tell me you arent someone that judges older kids in doubles? Mine HAD to, she has ASD and had no control until past 4!

ThisLittleKitty · 20/01/2018 20:15

There was a thread the other day about a 5 year old in a buggy EVERYONE judged it. Unless there is special needs or a disability there really is no need.

MrsKoala · 20/01/2018 20:18

I didn’t judge it. I made a comment and a few mins after it was deleted. Sometimes it’s easier for you and then to sit in the buggy. I don’t see a problem.

Ilovecoleslaw · 20/01/2018 20:19

At 6 foot 5, I don't think your husband's going to fit in that pram, sorry.

Ilovecoleslaw · 20/01/2018 20:21

(Joke if anyone complains) Grin

FlyingwithBaby · 20/01/2018 20:25

The Out N About Nipper 360 is excellent for everything and so easy to manoeuvre. It’s also possible to attach a car seat or bassinet to it.

dreamies · 20/01/2018 20:37

Second the idea of a mini micro scooter for 4 year old, best 60 quid I I've ever spent, my ds didn't use a buggy at all at 4 as far as I remember. Double with a 4yo is a waste of money.

I reckon this fits your criteria, OP.

Here's the one I was actually planning to link to Smile,

www.silvercrossbaby.com/our-products/prams-and-pushchairs/wave2/

xyzandabc · 20/01/2018 20:38

As a pp said. The one you've linked to looks a nightmare for long walks. I'd go for a single nipper 360. With a sling. Then you have all bases covered. A 4 yr old will only be using the pushchair very occasionally.

You can have baby in nipper and put a 4 yr old on the footplate. It works very well on both the single and double nippers (we've managed 5 in a double nipper, 2 on each seat and 1 on the footplate at the end of a very long walk!). The seat on the nipper is also pretty big so would easily take the 4 yr old, in which case the baby goes in the sling.

I would also wonder why you have to do 5 miles with both kids every weekend day. If it's a necessity, fair enough, but sometimes we all have to compromise a bit on what we want to do Vs what the kids can manage. Cut down the mileage and build back up again with the 4 yr old walking, give it a year and he'll be fine and able to outwalk all of his friends.

MockneyReject · 20/01/2018 20:40

Gah, a grubby sneaker obviously does not fulfil your criteria!

We have an Uppababy Vista (2013/2014 model) with a buggy board for a nearly 1 and nearly 4 year old.

I don’t think you’ll need the rumble seat - when the eldest is really tired he can sort of sit/kneel on the buggy board and put his head on a soft bag in the basket. He’s even fallen asleep like that Smile

We’ve also at times when he’s ill, put eldest in the main seat and put baby in a sling. It seems robust enough to handle the weight.

lashy · 20/01/2018 20:45

Pushchair aside; I would think twice before buying from Kiddicare just now - please Google them / their reviews before potentially making an expensive purchase.
A few years back they were great; but the last year or so, having closed many stores, they have been having huge problems fulfilling orders and/or refunding their customers (I was one of them).

LulusMiniEgg · 20/01/2018 21:02

I work in a nursery shop (www.direct4baby.co.uk) selling prams and I would recommend the iCandy orange.

It’s great for tall parents, has a built in buggy board for your older child so no kicking it with your own feet as you walk (this happens with my own buggy board/pram combo and it drives me mad!) and if you really struggle with the lack of second seat then you can buy a second seat & convert into a double. The buggy board holds up to 20kg too so pretty sturdy for a double.

They are really lovely, wish they had been around when I had my first baby as it cites itself as ‘futureproof’, and I really think it is.

JackmanAdmirer · 21/01/2018 07:14

I really love the integral footstep for toddlers on the icandy orange - do any of the other icandy models come with this?

OP posts:
LulusMiniEgg · 21/01/2018 11:01

No just the orange at the moment I think. It’s a great idea, sure other brands will jump on it eventually, but the orange was only launched last year so will take a while for other brands to redesign their chassis to include one.
