It looks too good to be true. Huge storage for shopping and bags. Even a built in seat for older child!
Is it any good though?
My DH is 6 foot 5 and needs it to be tall and it needs to be decent off road.
Thanks in advance!

Cross Post, I had similar issues in wanting something that could be used off road and couldn't really find anything like that where one is behind the other. There probably is something but not in the price range I could afford! For some reason the wheels on that style don't really seem to be hefty enough for off road.

Mol1628 · 20/01/2018 12:44

All the tandem style I’ve looked at have been far too heavy and awkward to push. Whilst be dimensions look better, narrower to fit in shops, when you take into account how hard they are to push, id go for something a bit wider but easier to turn and lift through spaces. Nipper 360 or mountain buggy.

Lules · 20/01/2018 12:47

I couldn’t find a tandem that was easy to push. I have a mountain buggy which is lovely to push and good off road. It is big and heavy but then it has to fit 2 children in.

DotCottonDotCom · 20/01/2018 12:48

Graco is a fucking tank system without any added extras, I cannot IMAGINE how shit this would be.

OP I understand you want for a pram thats one behind the other. I did go for a Phil and Teds and I utterly hated it! I sold it faster than I bought it. I gave in to the City Mini Jogger Double, and I was so shocked at how small a side by side could be. the out and about jogger is meant to be good too.

You’d never get it on a bus.

JackmanAdmirer · 20/01/2018 13:09

Older child will almost be 4 when new baby is born so won't really be in the pram a lot but we do have long walks sometimes and the option to put him in the pram would be very useful.

We do use buses occasionally but do a lot of walking.

Get a good single and a sling. When older child needs pram, put baby in sling. You could also get a good buggy board. At 4, the number of times my children needed to go in the pram due to tiredness was minimal, so unless you're regularly doing 2+ miles after school it's far easier to have the single, buggy board and sling options.

Oogie · 20/01/2018 13:19

I had an American version, Baby Trend Sit n Stand. I have only just given it away as I originally bought it for my twins. I couldn’t drive at the time so it survived 4 years of walking everywhere. At one point I even managed to fit 3 kids on it.
It looked like a tank, but was surprisingly light and narrow enough for doorways.

ConcreteUnderpants · 20/01/2018 13:21

My friend has one of these. She absolutely loves it. Gets on the bus just fine, complete with kids and loaded with shopping.

I've had a quick push and I didn't like it so much. Maybe because I'm not used to it (or spoiled with my fabulously easy to push uppababy), but I found it quite tricky to turn. It's certainly not as manoeuvrable as mine, but then it serves a different purpose, I guess.

ThisLittleKitty · 20/01/2018 13:23

A double buggy would really be a waste of money with a 4 year old. Better off with the sling suggestion.

LionsTigersBeers · 20/01/2018 13:24

I liked the Phil and Ted's double when I had a baby and a toddler. We did so much walking - it was awesome. They sit one behind the other and was a good, narrow pram.

JackmanAdmirer · 20/01/2018 13:25

Narnia - I'd not even thought about doing that. Could be a good idea!

Failingat40 · 20/01/2018 13:35

Can the baby seat turn round to face the front or is it fixed looking at back of toddler head and parent? I'd want my baby to see the world a bit more.

I'd be concerned it may tip if the toddler jumped off, it looks back heavy.

It looks like you'd struggle getting it up from road to pavement without a dropped kerb

If your older child will be 4 then don't buy it.

Graco imo is a cheap heavy made clunky pram. I would buy a single Nipper and get a buggy board if your 4 yo really can't walk.

lostherenow · 20/01/2018 13:37

If your eldest is 4, how heavy are they? Almost all pushchairs in the UK are only tested up to 15kg so you would need to get something tested to a higher weight limit - which is usually the US brands. Or just get preschool carrier and stick the 4 year old on your back when they are tired really really no point getting a double for a 4 year old.

Mol1628 · 20/01/2018 13:39

For a 4 year old you want something with a decent weight limit. You’d not be able to push most tandems with a 4 year old in!

What sort of walks is it? I got my 3.5 year old a mini micro scooter and he’s never been in the pram since and we do a lot of walking. I got a pull strap for it when he was tired after nursery sometimes which was surprisingly easy to manage whilst also pushing a pram.

YellowMakesMeSmile · 20/01/2018 13:41

I wouldn't even be entertaining the idea of a double pram just to puta four year old in. At the age their days of being in a pushchair should be well and truly over.

It's huge and not very pretty to look at.

Mad6kids · 20/01/2018 13:44

We have a mothercare genie . Its great as we used as a single pram but it extends so we can fit an additional seat which we are needing now Smile

PrinceofWales · 20/01/2018 14:00

Brutal B dual!

Amazing pushchair!

ThisLittleKitty · 20/01/2018 14:17

At the age their days of being in a pushchair should be well and truly over.

Definitely.

JackmanAdmirer · 20/01/2018 15:15

@YellowMakesMeSmile
@ThisLittleKitty

We walk a minimum of 5 miles each day at the weekend. It's a long way for a 4 year old.

Ok - new question... which single pram is best for very tall people?

Needingsomeadvice · 20/01/2018 15:32

Buggy board is a good plan, then. At 4 unless he has some sort of needs, he should be OK on that (I say this as someone who had a DD who was in a little pushchair until she was 4, due to special needs. I never would have thought while pregnant that my 2-year old would have been OK to walk at 2y10m but although he needed the buggy board for about 6 months tops, he wasn't using at all after that and eventually I removed it. 5 miles is a lot but perhaps you could get a pram seat on a normal pram.
My first one was a Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe which was a huge tank of a pram but had an excellent basket underneath which would fit a lot of shopping. I learned from experience and my pram the next time was an O'Baby prammette type thing which was very good. It looks like a carrycot, but then you could tilt it and put clips on it and it would be a bucket seat pushchair that could be rear or forward facing. The pram could also come off and the matching carseat could clip onto the chassis - handy for a quick trip around the supermarket. The wheels even came off to make it easier to fit into a smaller boot space. I stuck a buggy board on it but sometimes would put the baby in a sling if the 2 year old was extremely tired.

thegreatbeyond · 20/01/2018 15:42

I don't know if the Silver Cross tandem is any good, but my H is very tall and we like that a lot if the SC handles go up and down.

thegreatbeyond · 20/01/2018 15:43

(I have the Pioneer)
