To say colleague is a cheeky fucker?

She booked an all inclusive to Spain a few weeks back.

She requested a half day (leave at 12pm), so she can get to the airport and depart. The rest of the week she's there, she already had booked off.

Today she's requested to speak to me. Turns out she is telling me she will be leaving at 12pm on Friday (the date of her holiday), because she says she is now pregnant and has her first MW appointment (the booking one).

Employees don't need evidence for their first Midwife appointment.

AIBU to think she's cheeky and she is leaving for the airport? Grin

However I did some research and the hospital she said she's receiving her care at would've made her late for her flight.

Her office is very close to the airport. the hospital could well take up to 2 hours to get to, depending on route

midnight she was refused the half day for airport and then told me about MW appointment so I had to let her go.

This has all happen now, this was last week. I'm just updating PP what happened

OP, screenshot the Instagram for your files.

Wait & see if she is pregnant. if she is not, there is a discussion to have.

If she is, then her pregnancy timing worked in her favour and you have to concede she's cheeky but hasn't done anything wrong (presume she could make the appt & have breakfast & get to airport within 5 hours).

i would wait and see if she's pregnant - that is something crazy to fake so either she's stupid, or she thinks she can just cake a miscarriage. If she isnt pregnant - then haul her into HR. If she is pregnant - then let it go.

You'll be in a lose lose situation if you call her bluff so I'd act on the information you've been given. You say you want to give her the half day but policy wouldn't allow it, now policy does it allow it. Unless it is a role where being 3 staff down will adversely effect the department like an A&E then I wouldn't care. I'd suck up the inconvenience and see what happens after the holiday. If she is pregnant you've done the right thing, if she isn't... what a nutty lie.She is going to have to fake a miscarriage. You still come out positively.
