We have a new Senior Manager starting in a few months.

I do not like my direct line manager I think she is piss poor at her job, unprofessional, lazy and she likes to “pull rank” and show off her “authority”.

Have a meeting next week to discuss “going forward” with her, my direct line manager and the strategic lead

Meeting was organised over a month ok, I have never met or had any contact with this new Manager.

Yesterday I get an email from my line manager Ccing in the other two managers with a massive list of stuff she wants me to produce on Tuesdays meeting which is impossible for me to do (case studies, Stats, feedback etc) esp including my diary is full for the next few days and I am off ill actually yday and today.

AIBU to be really fucking pissed off that she has just fired off this email with no discussion with me about how she plans on supporting me in caiming up with all this info and what she wants me to not do in order to achieve this impossible task and REALLY fucked off that thisvis the first communication I have had with the new Manager.

That’s hilarious comparing her to Trump Grin

You could start picturing her with an orange perma-tan and sprayed on yellow hair. Would help you to get the necessary detachment.

MrsMaxwell · 19/01/2018 17:29

TBF she already has a rather ridiculous appearance (I feel totally unprofessional) and don’t get me started on how she signs off her emails.

She's being unreasonable, get ahead of her but do it nicely and professionally

Dear Satan
Thanks for your email, unfortunately the things you want me to bring to the meeting would take a while to gather and my diary is filled, is it possible we could either delay the meeting to give me enough time to practically get this work done or can you specify what is most important and perhaps we can discuss other things at a different meeting

lostinspaceyetagain · 19/01/2018 18:20

If you work for an LA then you can anonymously whistle blow about her holiday leave- it is fraud, she is defrauding the LA.

MrsMaxwell · 19/01/2018 18:32

Thing is I whistle blew once before when being sexually harassed by a colleague (who worked with teenage girls Hmm) he was suspended, then went off sick so whilst suspended he could accrue leave and then he was made redundant and paid off and the tribunal was cancelled and brushed under the carpet.

It was so stressful for me geared me myself up for a hearing that never happened where he could have cross examined me.

Never felt like it was worth it after that.

Yay!!!

What happened at the meeting?

ToadsforJustice · 23/01/2018 23:05

Win! How did that happen?

MrsMaxwell · 23/01/2018 23:10

Decision had already been made before the meeting - I resisted fist punching the air and shouting “YES!”.

New manager seems ok (better).

OP posts:
PurplePirate · 23/01/2018 23:11

How did the bitch react?

MrsMaxwell · 23/01/2018 23:13

She was ok actually as she only has me left to manage but now she’s been given 4 people junior to me to manage (poor them) and I will be free!!

Ooh, someone's got her number. You still had some great advice on this thread in case it starts up again though. Very pleasing outcome!

TheBrilliantMistake · 23/01/2018 23:54

Don't make a response sound churlish - make it sound as enthusiastic as possible...

'Sounds great - I will try to get as much done as possible in time for the meeting, accepting the current workload and timescales are pretty. It might be an idea to identify the most critical items to ensure at least those get done in time.'

This way, it's a lot more positive but still mentions the tightness of the timescales, and still leaves on a high note about getting things done!

Another nice little trick is to engage those on the CC list and ask them if they would like to add anything to the list / priority. It sounds counter-intuitive to ask for more work, but it engages directly with them, and takes away your boss's sense of control / threat by cc'ing them in.

You'll come across as productive and willing to get as much done as you can (having already sewn the seeds of not likely to manage it all!)

TheBrilliantMistake · 23/01/2018 23:55

oops, only just seen the updates to this!
Stil useful advice for next time ;-)

ozymandiusking · 24/01/2018 00:06

Isn't it amazing how things turn out? All the worrying.
You know that saying," none of it will matter in a100 years!"
I'm pleased for you.
