If you're an unemployed waster then you should have a vasectomy!!!

Ben Bradley, an MP, wrote in a blogpost, 6 years ago, that the country would be soon “drowning in a vast sea of unemployed wasters” if workless families had four or five children while others limited themselves to one or two.
This is what he said:

''It’s horrendous that there are families out there that can make vastly more than the average wage, (or in some cases more than a bloody good wage) just because they have 10 kids. Sorry but how many children you have is a choice; if you can’t afford them, stop having them! Vasectomies are free.

There are hundreds of families in the UK who earn over £60,000 in benefits without lifting a finger because they have so many kids (and for the rest of us that’s a wage of over £90,000 before tax!).

People have to take responsibility for their own lives, and if they are struggling but working hard to help themselves then they should get help. But if they choose to have 10 kids they should take responsibility for that choice and look after them, not expect everyone else to foot the bill!

Families who have never worked a day in their lives having 4 or 5 kids and the rest of us having 1 or 2 means it’s not long before we’re drowning in a vast sea of unemployed wasters that we pay to keep!''

So What to do you think? Do you agree with Ben Bradley or do you think he is being unreasonable?

How do you rip out the working heart of a nation and not expect social problems?

They did expect them, they just don’t give a shit.

It's amazing that the men who used to get tattoos on their face
and their succession of council housed girlfriends who moved them in.
Says everything we need to know about you Elton.

Notreallyarsed · 18/01/2018 18:06

free school meals

Well for a start they should stop free school meals for the first 3 years of school for all. That would save a lot of money, as well as stopping wasting it on kids whose parents can well afford it.

Free school trips aren’t free. They’re heavily subsidised by the School usually so nowt to do with benefits. (Our School has a system where you can pay extra if you want to help with this)

Notreallyarsed · 18/01/2018 18:08

Want2b thanks for the advice I’ll look into it. I’d have to go through the books though, cash in hand is a bit dodgy for me.

You’re serious aren’t you? Good grief.

' I applied for care jobs when I was looking. A lot of them want you to work to a rota involving some evenings/weekends and some people like myself just don't have anyone to help with childcare at weekends. Care in the community positions require a driving license which again some people don't have.'

This. Plus they are mostly zero hours and pay less than MW because they don't pay when you are travelling between clients.

expatinscotland · 18/01/2018 18:12

The usual guff about migrants doing the seasonal jobs, again, they don't come with their families. It's reliant upon someone back home doing the childcare. Many live in the provided accommodation and send the money back home.

I think men who go around fathering multiple children (or any children) by multiple women without paying a single penny of child support ever, deserve harsher punishment that that frankly. They should be prosecuted for neglect imo, after all, if the person looking after the child failed to feed/cloth them they would be in prison.

Jojofjo44 · 18/01/2018 18:15

I think that you should take your Daily Fail article research somewhere else.

Seriously, this has been done to death. Let's talk about MPs and expenses, tax returns, falling asleep in Parliament and allowing corporate tax dodging instead it's a far bigger problem.

Hell yes to this!!! XH has paid fuck all towards DS1, in 10 years. Nor any of the other 6 he fathered with 6 other women.

makeourfuture · 18/01/2018 18:16

Because the truth is, and it is more than evident here - they don't want a nation of empowered workers, they want the forelock-tug, they want acknowledgement that they are better people. The sick, class poison still flows thick.

Bravo!!

feral · 18/01/2018 18:18

I agree with him too. Sorry but I've also worked in benefits and 'only a few' is bullshit. It's a way of life for many many families.

makeourfuture · 18/01/2018 18:19

Carillion makes nothing, creates nothing....and will walk away and set up again under another cheap corporate banner.

Both parents should face harsh consequences if they fail to financially support a child. Even with UC is still very easy to play the system to gain maximum benefits for the littlest effort. The amount that seen to be incapable of working or doing more than a token few hours is astounding saying it's impossible with children yet millions of others manage it.

makeourfuture · 18/01/2018 18:22

Again, class genocide will not solve the problem - education, poverty reduction and empowerment, these things lead to natural reductions in fertility.

I can imagine it is, be it not working or playing the system to get away with working as few hours as possible or having a SAHP. You would have to be extremely naive to believe that only a tiny percentage played the system.

expatinscotland · 18/01/2018 18:22

'Even with UC is still very easy to play the system to gain maximum benefits for the littlest effort. '

No, it isn't.

Want2bSupermum · 18/01/2018 18:24

lady In denmark low income families don't have a high number of DC because the parents are working beyond their youngest being a year old. The disabled are assessed to see if they can work. My SIL went through a six month review. They determined her needs and number of hours she couldn't and could work. They said she could work 9 mins at a stretch before needing a break therefore disability at no more than her previous income when working would be applied.

ton181 · 18/01/2018 18:28

When I was a child benefits helped you get from one job to the next, now it appears to be a lifestyle choice. Cut them back I say, as they as they have done, I'm all for it.

My partner and I both work full time and pay over 1K per month in child care / after school fees, for 2 children, we cant afford to have more. Scrounging scum drive me mad, when they expect the state to pay for their brood.

Justanotherlurker · 18/01/2018 18:28

Again what would you have done with these millions of unemployed - defenestration by her hand of Jesus? Moved them into banking and finance?

Sigh, it was not me trying to score a political point, I was merely adding context to a graph that you posted.

The reason the graph is like it is, is because Labour employed a new tactic of massaging the figures, they could have tried to re-industrials the north, they could have not closed down more mines than Thatcher ever did, they could have let the wage increase due to market conditions instead of implementing Tax credits which let businesses off the hook, I'm not sure, use your mental gymnastics to beat up the tories while defending Blue Labour.

blackheartsgirl · 18/01/2018 18:29

‘My family member had the same issue, she just called her housing officer and got it replaced the following week.’

I am Council housed. They are also my landlord and they have a legal obligation to do repairs in a reasonable timescale just like in a private rent.

I also work full time in a minimum wage job and my rent is not subsidied, a private 3 bed house is often cheaper rent than mine.

And you don’t just call the Council and get it replaced within a week, the housing officer does not sort repairs either, that’s done by the repairs section and the inspector has to assess the situation first at least they do in my area. I’ve been waiting for 3 years to have my boiler replaced, they keep doing shoddy repairs on it and I frequently have no hot water, the inspectors been out twice.

I wish people would get over the free Council house thing. I’ve owned my own house in the past but had to sell after my ex left me, was left with nothing. Would rather own my house anyway than be housed in Council. If people are that envious of Council house tenants then why don’t they sell thier own houses and just get a Council house. (Like it’s that easy)

Anyway back to the op that mp is an idiot.

ohreallyohreallyoh · 18/01/2018 18:29

The amount that seen to be incapable of working or doing more than a token few hours is astounding saying it's impossible with children yet millions of others manage it

How many, exactly? The trouble with this attitude is th need to acknowledge that some people will struggle. I have 3 children and fortunately a car. As a single parent, 2 of my children used to be in school breakfast club opening at 8. The other was in nursery, one mile from our home, 2 miles from the school in the opposite direction to our home, which opened at 7:45. I started work 3 miles away at 8:30. Without a car, those distances would have proved prohibitive when it came to being at work on time. Add in the use of public transport, that arrives once an hour, and it’s near on impossible.

Many of us do manage it. But there are steps to overcome that unless you’ve been there, can be difficult to see let alone deal with.

YellowMakesMeSmile · 18/01/2018 18:32

I disagree Expat. There's no obligation to work at all with a child under one so non working people can simply go ahead and reporoduce knowing they will instantly gain financial support. Under 13 they are only expected to work school hours which is barely anything and certainly not enough in most cases to fund themselves and family and over 13 it's only 25 hours so not even full time. If one person works full time at NMW there's no requirement to have the other adult working and they can still claim so the whole system is still very easy to play to gain the most for little input.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 18/01/2018 18:32

The problem with threads like these (apart from highlighting how many fucking horrible people are about) is that most posters live in a vacuum.

If you work in benefits then that's all you are going to know. You are not dealing with millions of others who DO work and who DO contribute. Sitting here and saying "well I work in benefits so I know all claimants are scroungers" does nothing except make you look very ignorant.
