To ask how you met your partner

Love stories of how people met!
Me and my partner met at 14, I went out with his friend!! We kissed at 16 but I moved 200 miles away. We met up once at 18 and had a one night stand but didn't speak again for 10 years! 3 years ago I was in a pub and walked past him, we chatted a bit and went back to our friends, that night he found me on Facebook and we met up again. 3 years on he's my best friend, we are getting married next year and we had a baby 3m ago.

So what's your story with your partner?

I met DH at a rave. My friend and I were dancing away and he came over chatting and sharing our bottles of water. When he wandered off I said to my friend that he was going to be my boyfriend, and within two weeks with a bit of online stalking and carefully engineered being in the same place at the same time (as it turned out we knew a lot of the same people) he did become my boyfriend.

And then three years later we were married, still together, very very happily married with one DC.

MrPan Grin It's a classic romantic story line: boy meets girl; boy and girl fuck; boy and girl have three-some with boy's brother; girl and boy's brother marry.

Jaygee61 · 17/01/2018 12:40

I joined a choir. He was also a member. Been married 27 years.

Trinity66 · 17/01/2018 12:42

No offense FriendsFornever but two brothers having sex together is really gross lol

doze931 · 17/01/2018 12:45

Met my husband on plenty of fish.com

OberonTheHopeful · 17/01/2018 12:52

We originally met at an event at a gallery, though didn't actually start dating until nearly three years later.

FriendsFornever · 17/01/2018 12:53

Trinity Technically they didn't have sex with each other. We were all quite high at the time.

Halfdrankbrew · 17/01/2018 12:54

Went to school "together" but I didn't know him as he was the year above, recognised his face from years at the same school.

Went to uni 200 miles away, was on a night out and he was out with someone I knew. I recognised his face and we got chatting realised we had everything in common. Got on like a house on fire, fancied each other right away (went home together shhhhh). Started going out, married with 2 kids 14 years on.

Funnily the 1 night stand was missed out during his wedding speech Grin.

Well yeah I gathered that, still though I can't imagine having a sex session in the company of a sibling even Shock

whifflesqueak · 17/01/2018 12:59

A one night stand that got me pregnant.

Not very romantic, but we’re making up for that now. We had our baby, fell in love, had another baby and got married. Can’t believe my luck. He’s lovely Grin

On Tinder, the home of modern romance!

TriJo · 17/01/2018 13:09

In the pub after a 10 mile race in Dublin in 2010. Friends for a year and a half, then got together - got married in 2015, had DS1 10 months later, DS2 is due next month.

We met at work. Never on shift together but both got invited on our supervisor's birthday night out. Got very drunk, and had sex. Then he wouldn't leave me alone, so we ended up dating and here we are. Married with a 2 year old and another on the way Grin

LemonShark · 17/01/2018 13:14

Tinder! I had just split from my ex as we wanted different things, and moved to a city nearby as I didn't want to be single and enjoying myself in the smaller town I was living in with ex. Downloaded tinder to meet new people to show me around and go for drinks with. Matched with him and met for coffee a week later. Dated for six or so weeks exclusively but casually, then he asked me to be his girlfriend. We live together now, still early days (only a year and a half in) but very happy and have dealt well with some difficult life events so far. He's also by far the most beautiful man I've ever set eyes on, four years younger than me, and very smart, driven and accomplished. And we want the same things from our future :) I'm still in the googley eyes gazing at him with butterflies stage half the time as is he, he walks in the room and I can't believe I am in love with somebody that beautiful inside and out. It's vomit worthy. All from tinder, which has such a bad rep!

OakIsBetterTho · 17/01/2018 13:15

Through a friend. I worked with one of his friends and he (the friend) just saw me and DP together. He said we had the same sense of humour, the same love of drinking and both liked a shag, he was right Blush I met up with him and that was that. Pretty much inseparable from the word go Grin

Turquoisetamborine · 17/01/2018 13:16

We worked together with homeless men so through work. He treated me really well after a lot of men hadn’t so thought I would keep him!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/01/2018 13:17

Online. Met for a quiet drink. Laughed like drains and been together ever since. Loveliest man I’ve ever known.

RocketPockets · 17/01/2018 13:20

We met at university, not much of a romantic story to be honest! I had no idea he liked me and at the beginning of our second year he finally told me he fancied me. We went on two or three dates and then had ‘the chat’ we got married a few years later and then had a baby! We’ve been together 6 and a half years now Smile

CheeseAndBeans · 17/01/2018 13:23

Plenty of fish. I had moved back to my home town after 12 years and most people
I knew had moved away. Decided to try online dating to at least get out for a night out... met my now OH for a few drinks (he was the first and only person I met!) and now been together 6 years with 2 DDs.

livelyredjellybean · 17/01/2018 13:26

I hired him to move my stuff out of my ex's place. He said I overpaid him and offered to take me out for a drink! The rest is history 😍

ARichVernacular · 17/01/2018 13:26

In the same big group of friends for years without knowing each other particularly well. I always thought he was too cool; he always thought I was hot but unavailable.

Eventually began spending more time together due to shared hobby. Fairly quickly realised I had fallen massively in love - most unexpected! Thankfully he felt the same Grin

Been together nearly twenty years now, two lovely children. He is the kindest, most wonderful and most interesting person I know. He makes me laugh every day, and he still makes my stomach flip. Can't believe my luck :)
