Well peed off. I'm blonde. I was born blonde and will stay blonde until I go white. Why do people (both male and female) think it's ok to make derogatory comments regarding my intelligence based on the colour of my hair. I used to play along or ignore it but as I've got older it really irks. Today I was accused of having 'a blonde moment' as I forgot something.

Any other blondes feel the same?

Yes!

Frequently.

I'm also short and young looking with freckles.

People often done take me seriously at all

MrsMaxwell · 16/01/2018 19:19

Yes - and I also have huge boobs which doesn’t help either but I guess ginger heads feel the same fo different reasons Hmm

Fekko · 16/01/2018 19:22

Oi my head is not ginger. It’s pinkish. My hair is reddish. A bit greyish these days.

CinnamonBlockage · 16/01/2018 19:26

Ditto big boobs :0
But why do blondes and redheads get so much grief?

OP posts:
Fekko · 16/01/2018 19:27

They’re just jealous...!

TheSassyAssassin · 16/01/2018 19:30

Hmmm...So am natural brunette but am currently blonde (2nd time I have been fully blonde as an adult) and it is true that I have been treated differently depending on my hair colour. Def taken more seriously as a brunette and also described as sultry, but seen as more fun, outgoing and yes, ditzy as a blonde. I haven't changed personality (or intelligence level) but people's impression of me has been linked to my hair colour. Last time when I was blonde, I worked in a male dominated environment and loved seeing the jaws drop when I opened my mouth and they realised I knew more then they did. You could see them struggling not to say "but you're a woman AND you're a blonde!" As a social experiment it's interesting to change hair colour radically...Might go red next...Last time I was red was seen as fiery and tempestuous... IME hair stereotypes are alive and well!

Fekko · 16/01/2018 19:33

I once went to a fancy dress party and I was the blonde one from ABBA. My friend was the brunette. Yes people do assume things when they think you are blonde although god knows why.

Tink2007 · 16/01/2018 19:34

Yes - blonde with big boobs so you can imagine what that brings with it.

cantucciniamaretto · 16/01/2018 19:44

No. I've never had anyone say anything about my intelligence based on the colour of my hair. But then as I don't live in a comic or the 1970's I don't see why they would.

WipsGlitter · 16/01/2018 19:46

Are you really blonde though?? I don't know anyone who is blonde beyond childhood they all dye their hair. Most are dirty Fair or mouse.

Littlechocola · 16/01/2018 19:47

I’m a brunette and I get the ‘blonde’ comments.

CarolineForbes · 16/01/2018 19:49

Same as pp’s - I’ve been treated differently in the past when I’ve gone brunette. Also have big boobs. I see a theme here!

yawning801 · 16/01/2018 19:51

Yes. I'm "blonde beyond belief" according to someone at work. To be fair, I skipped out the number seven while counting to ten twice in a row before realising what I'd done, but I gave him the evils. I've also lost count of the times that people who know my name have come up to me saying "Hi Blondie!" or "Hi Goldie!". Angry

LinoleumBlownapart · 16/01/2018 19:54

Yes, my brown haired 14 year old told my blond 8 year old "That's so blond". I went ballistic Grin

TheFirstMrsDV · 16/01/2018 19:55

I am very blonde.
Can't say its ever been an issue.

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 16/01/2018 19:57

I've heard dark haired women say that they are having a blonde moment.

Funnily enough, I've never heard it said about blonde men.

Orlandointhewilderness · 16/01/2018 19:57

redhead here. yep.

Randomlywondering · 16/01/2018 19:59

Try coming from Essex!

dun1urkin · 16/01/2018 19:59

WipsGlitter it is entirely possible to be a blonde as an adult. At least I thought I was blonde... kind of honey with a few strawberries.
Anyway. I post this for judgement about my 100% natural no highlights dye or anything hair.
I also have big boobs. But don’t think I’ve been treated differently as a result of either. I’m in a professional role and would like to think I’m highly respected

As a brunnete person I've had many people say 'are you havign a blonde moment' so I think people use it as a figure of speech rather than aiming it at blonde people specifically.. not saying it's right though.

Lilliepixie · 16/01/2018 20:03

Blonde
Never had any comments about my intelligence based on my hair colour.
Wipsglitter- of course older people can still be blonde Confused

LinoleumBlownapart · 16/01/2018 20:03

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads both my children are boys so 14 was using hair as an insult for boys. I was told at university in the 90's that if I jumped out of a window I would just float because my blond hair would pull me up and my arse would pull me down, so they'd act against each other and I'd just float. A high number of English public school boys at my university and those places were rife with blond/ginger/sexist jokes. Not sure if things are better now, I'm skeptical.

Aspatria · 16/01/2018 20:05

I have been brunette and I have been blonde, currently on the blonder side. I have never experienced any comment about my intelligence either way.

"blonde moment" is quite a common saying, I guess you could take it personally, I wouldn't.

I heard a lot of "don't be such a girl" and I use it myself. I haven't noticed anyone being offended either.

Redhead.

“Hello Ginge, how’s your minge? Is it red, like your head?”
