With no notice at all - effective immediately.
I have very limited funds & have always used my points for family meals out (birthdays etc).
Previously your points were worth 4c now ‘to make things easier for customers ‘ everything is now 3x value

Oh had no idea it had changed off to have a google!
Im not loyal to any particular supermarket il buy whatevers on offer wherever i can get it to bit have they ‘loyalty’ cards for all stores.
Nectar is my favourite you get some reallly good coupons that help your points add up fast. Especially when they have bonus points weekend etc. You can spend nectar point in argos to which is handy x

Betsy86 · 16/01/2018 20:39

But do agree they should of given people a notice period though

dancinfeet · 16/01/2018 20:43

I timed it just right then, as I changed all of mine into restaurant vouchers last week for my daughter to use with her friends for her 18th birthday meal out. By the sound of it, I just scraped in with the old offer of £5 clubcard vouchers being worth £20 for the restaurant. I changed £20 and got the girls £80 to use at Ask Italian.
It's a bit of a shame about it changing, but it's a free perk so can't really complain about it.

Mum2jenny · 16/01/2018 20:46

I only change mine at Tescos so no issue for me, the others are scams imo

missjaysays · 16/01/2018 20:47

What has changed? I have a club card and always scan it when I go in but have never used anything off it!! It's different to nectar isn't it, you can't just scan it and take money off at the till?

Would anyone mind briefly explaining? I probably have a fair bit on there.

SquigglePigs · 16/01/2018 20:47

It's annoyed me for another reason - on Sunday I converted £70 of vouchers into Denby vouchers and got £140 - if I did it today I would get £210!!

MagicWillHappen · 16/01/2018 20:51

What do you mean, scams?

lazyarse123 · 16/01/2018 20:56

The best card is co-op, it gives 5% on all own brand goods which can be spent in store plus 1% is also donated to local charities. It's very popular with ladies who enjoy co-ops own prosecco. Yes Tesco food has really gone down in quality lately. I think they have shot themselves in the foot with this.

Elderpond · 16/01/2018 20:57

I put everything at work through nectar. Flights, hotels, appliances. Literally thousands of pounds worth of stuff and saved all the points up over a year. It got me £100 and that was it.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 16/01/2018 21:00

We use it to go to restaurants

I love me some free food

We dont tend to shop in tesco

Idontevencareanymore · 16/01/2018 21:07

@missjaysays basically you get vouchers sent out every quarter and those points turn onto £££. You can either use them online or in store for face value or use them on a deal on boost (leaflet explains it with the vouchers) and get 3x the face value in certain attractions or venues.
I got a day at alton towers last year, 4 of us and it "cost" us £28 in vouchers and £17 in cash.

IvorHughJarrs · 16/01/2018 22:28

Squiggle It might be worth ringing their customer service and complaining. I have always found them to be helpful.

I have had to ring their customer service twice in the last couple of years regarding Clubcard points and, on both occasions, they have been amazing; friendly, helpful and efficient. They sorted out the problem both times with no fuss and even rang me back the next day to confirm all was ok.
I'd sooner have less for my points than the shit customer service many other companies offer

I have only ever used my points on train journeys, magazine subscriptions or Goldsmiths jewellery which used to be 4x but changed to 3x some years ago. I've never heard of most of the 57 partners leaving the scheme so have to say I am really not bothered by this, especially as it is a free perk

Hippee · 16/01/2018 22:53

I agree that the Co-op card is great for own brand products - I do a lot of top-up shopping there. I think their humous and falafel salad is my favourite lunch ever.

Once a year, Sainsbury's double up Nectar points for a week - it's complicated, but you do get 1p per point during that week.

noenergy · 17/01/2018 03:15

How is this less complicated. x3 sounds more complicated than x4 as I used to change £2.50 for £10 of vouchers for eating out or soft play, not sure how that will work now? Does it mean I need minimum of £10 to get £30 of deals.

Changeusername · 17/01/2018 03:37

Im fucked off. Been saving for ages and wss gonna treat our family to a meal with the boost. Tske p
It people know their 3x tabke better than their 5 then apparently?

araiwa · 17/01/2018 04:28

Isnt it the case that instead of variou rates for different things, its now a flat rate for everything- some are better, some the same and some less?

bunbon · 17/01/2018 04:39

I've really gone off Tesco recently, their own brand food seems to be declining in quality, the lack of lists for the online shopping is annoying and their subs make no sense half the time.

Also, am I the only one who doesn't get discount coupons anymore? I check my Clubcard account all the time but that bit is always empty.

BhajiAllTheWay · 17/01/2018 07:04

Are there any points schemes that are any good?? I've got a zillion nectar points which equal £8.00 after spending God knows how much. I also have an m&s credit card on which I've spent thousands...only to get a fiver gift card and random useless offers.

Buck3t · 17/01/2018 07:17

OK if it wasn't for this thread I would never have known. Points used to be worth more but since they lowered the amount their worth, we went from Merlin annual for a family of 4 to Cinema tickets only.

We decided to get rid of their credit card and go for virgin Credit card for air miles instead.

NoCanoe · 17/01/2018 07:51

I've just got to know about the change on here!
That can't be right, can it? No bluddy notice???
On a similar point, I used up some points near Christmas. Meant to buy a wine magazine. Accidentally bought a runners magazine!!

Not much difference.....Hmm

TellMeItsNotTrue · 17/01/2018 12:03

Apparently Tesco have said that if you have already exchanged and not used the voucher then 4x will remain 4x and 2x will automatically be increased to the 3x so you aren't losing out if you recently used your points.

I'm not sure how this will work, but good news for the 2 posters above who have used for 2x

FigurativelyDying · 17/01/2018 12:18

For those sneering at the OP for being annoyed at changes to "something that is free": every time you use your loyalty cards you are "selling" the company information about your shopping habits. Your vouchers are not free at all. You have bought them with your information.

Sophisticated analysis of your data would allow them to scrutinise aspects of your life, such as your kids' ages, your alcohol consumption, even how heavy your periods are if you think about it. So you are right to be annoyed when they change the terms of this exchange of information without notice.

StormTreader · 17/01/2018 12:25

They are dropping Red Letter Days, thats a shame.

CanYouHearThePeopleSing · 17/01/2018 12:27

Just seen this online:

Update 12.15pm Wed 17 Jan: Supermarket giant Tesco is to postpone major changes to its Clubcard Rewards scheme after a furious backlash from customers and a call from MSE founder Martin Lewis for it to rethink the changes.

Tesco has told us today that it is implementing a period of grace, and that Rewards tokens that were moving from 4x to 3x the value will be moved back to 4x for the time being.

Full details on the grace period will follow but Tesco has told us it's "likely" to last until 10 June, after which 4x vouchers will drop in value.

Tesco has said anyone who has lost out as a result of the changes should contact its customer service centre.
