To be pissed at TESCO changing the clubcard points ?

With no notice at all - effective immediately.
I have very limited funds & have always used my points for family meals out (birthdays etc).
Previously your points were worth 4c now ‘to make things easier for customers ‘ everything is now 3x value

I thought it's been x3 for ages? I actually thought this was a zombie thread (another one) as it hasn't been 4 x for about a year?

TeachesOfPeaches · 16/01/2018 18:57

YABU for saying pissed instead of pissed off.

Namechangeagain101 · 16/01/2018 18:57

@ptumbi - some were 2x, 3x & some 4x.
I only used for meals out which were 4x.

I make absolutely no apologies for saying pissed

It's 'pissed off' OP.
Pissed means something entirely different.

Bluedoglead · 16/01/2018 19:00

Not if you’re American, Green.

charlestonchaplin · 16/01/2018 19:01

It isn't a free perk. There are very few things in this world that are free! Tesco customers pay for the clubcard scheme through higher prices.

witchofzog · 16/01/2018 19:08

All those saying that it is a free perk and they owe you nothing, probably have plenty of money for it not to be too much of a big deal.

A few years ago I was on the bones of my arse money wise with no money at all for luxuries despite working full time and long hours. I used club card vouchers for meals and days out as this was the only way of affording a rare treat. I would have been gutted to discover that the points I had accrued were not worth as much as my teens and conditions stated.

Tesco should have given notice and changed the policy for future club card points only. They will lose a lot of customers over this

ArcheryAnnie · 16/01/2018 19:12

They can do what they like with their own scheme, but lordy do I loathe bullshit like "to make it easier for customers".

AnathemaPulsifer · 16/01/2018 19:15

They reduced it a good few years ago but with notice, so I booked a holiday v v quickly to use all mine up. I’d have been livid if they’d reduced without notice.

BombsAway · 16/01/2018 19:16

Notice would have been nice, I changed some vouchers at 2x value at the weekend which would now be 3x value. Had I known about the change I could have waited

Blahdeblah123 · 16/01/2018 19:23

I am a Tesco credit card customer and on the delivery saver scheme for which I pay £70odd a year. I got so pissed off over Christmas on the quality of food and the delivery swaps and availability of items I decided to do a shop round.
By buying my meat at the butchers (lean family pack), veg and sundries at Aldi I am saving a whopping £25.00 per week!!!!!!!
I was blinded by the points towards air miles. I wouldn't mind if the service and quality matched the price but it simply doesn't.
My delivery saver finishes next November, but I've decided to do my main shop as above and forget Tescos as it doesn't offer value for money.

AthenaAshton · 16/01/2018 19:25

Bloody Tesco. However, it's probably still better than Nectar, and M&S Sparks Card (wtf? When did I ever buy "coated poultry"?? Fuck off, M&S and your "targeted offers". And wtf is "coated poultry", anyway?!).

charlestonchaplin · 16/01/2018 19:30

Chicken goujons, breaded chicken steaks, that sort of thing I imagine.

ExecutiveDiamondBossBabeHun · 16/01/2018 19:32

I used to prefer Tesco to the neutral card but actually witthe the bonus nectar points I do really well. Yesterday I got a till voucher for 500 free nectar points for nothing for example. Am saving them all for the double up at Christmas... for toys (wine) Wine

chachaboom · 16/01/2018 19:33

You've taken to drink just because of the club card changes??

(They could have given a bit of notice)

AthenaAshton · 16/01/2018 19:38

Ah. I imagined chickens dressed up. As you were.

AthenaAshton · 16/01/2018 19:39

While we're at it, could someone explain Nectar to me, please? I had about 100 million points, and they seemed to translate into a £10 Virgin East Coast voucher. Confused

Ilikesweetpeas · 16/01/2018 19:42

I agree OP, really frustrating that this is done with no notice and at the pretence of making things easier for customers!!

ArcheryAnnie · 16/01/2018 19:46

I've just checked, and there seems to be no change on the Avios exchange rate of 600 for £2.50 worth of vouchers.

Slippery · 16/01/2018 19:50

You were pissed at Tesco? Yes, that's unreasonable.

Or did you mean pissed off?

NambiBambi · 16/01/2018 20:09

A little notice would have been good. We are planning a family celebration in March - just a small-scale thing but the old-style Pizza Express deal with the vouchers would have been more helpful and I would have exchanged my points for them now if I had known.
Loads of people nowadays say 'pissed' to mean annoyed/angry in the American style. I am not one of them but it's surely easy to understand the OP did not mean they were inebriated. I have seen it on other threads.

takeitandleaveit · 16/01/2018 20:20

Loads of people nowadays say 'pissed' to mean annoyed/angry in the American style.

I know they do. And it really pisses me off.

Oblomov18 · 16/01/2018 20:27

I had no idea they'd lowered the value of points. Sad
