To think my cousin is stealing from my aunt?

My aunt has various medication that she needs to take. It come directly to the pharmacy in a sorted box so all she has to do is find the right day and take the morning/lunch/night tablet.

One of the tablets she takes has been missing from her box. She did not tell me until today so I figured it was a mistake and popped into the pharmacy. The pharmacist said it was being put in and showed me the records to prove it.

Her son is constantly asking her for money... He's basically not interested in her unless she has cash and is a bit of a bully towards her. He's been staying with her and has had access to the tablets. There are other reasons why I suspect him too but it would take too long to get into them here.

What the hell do I do now though?

@CaledonianQueen it should be popped but what I am saying is although it should be popped it can be peeled backed with no real evidence of it. If the person doing it is really careful and the pop bit isn't touching the edge of the box.

I would be very careful before saying anything. Just because someone has done something previous and does not treat someone the way you would or would like does not mean that they are stealing.
In the first instance I would check exactly how these are being presented and administered and then contact who is responsible for your aunts care with these medications. Does she have a nurse or can you speak to her doctor and let them deal with it via the appropriate roots.
I hope you get this sorted.

Just couldn’t let the over-dramatic comment about mixing amitripyline and alcohol and dying pass...

Unless you’re taking the pills in some strange way (crushing & smoking/injecting, etc) then they are quite safe with alcohol. I’ve got years of personal experience on this, and have done extensive research. Specifically checked this at a recent medication review with the specialist.

There is a risk of extra drowsiness, but nothing much else. They are nothing like opiates, and certainly don’t give any ‘happy buzz’ (with or without booze). There is a light antidepressant effect (after weeks on the exact right oral dosage), but it would have to rank pretty low on the list of drugs you’d be able to abuse or sell on the street.

Of course if you’re determined to harm yourself, I guess you could find a way, just like you could with many things in your pantry or first aid kit. Or if you had some particular body chemistry or other condition that caused you to react badly (allergy?).

But ‘quick high’ street drug? Don’t see it.
