Neighbours daily motorbike ritual

Every morning. At 10.30, give or take, our neighbour 4 doors down, starts the engine of his quite loud motorbike (I dont know the make), then leaves it to run for about 5 minutes before roaring off down the road.
He (it is a He I have checked), roars back later in the afternoon, about 4. He then does the same turning on, leaving to idle outside the house for 5 mins, then roars off.
He does this every, bloody day. The engine on the bike is loud and vibrating and it creates a heady thrum in the house. The delibrate polluting is getting on my nerves too.
Other neighbours have commented but as yet I haven't gone and said anything as I think I might be being a cranky old cow.Are there grounds for me to approach and ask politely for them to stop doing this" It has been going on for about 4 months now. Bored of it.
Added to which, there is the risk of the thing being knicked as it is left running unattended outside the house.
It is obviously his pride and joy but the shine has defintely gone off it for me.

SPARKLINGBROOK I am ready and happy to accept all responsibility for killing Concorde be sure of complaining about my neighbour. I will also own up to single handedly destroying British aero industry with my selfish, petty moaning.
On a side note. I think Mr Trebus loves your choice of car. He sent you a kiss and everything

MrTrebus · 15/01/2018 20:41

Did you mean to say "I bring out the best baby's in you"?? That is Blush

Sparklingbrook · 15/01/2018 20:51

Mr Trebus is definitely Jay from the Inbetweeners.

I knew someone was to blame for Concorde's demise lola. And it's you complaining apparently.

lolaflores · 15/01/2018 20:52

Nooooo. You bring out the best bants. I am all good for babies here and excuse gender presumption

If you lived near the flight path of Concorde it had a loud sonic "boom"
(noise) You could set your clock by it, twice a day

It didn't bother me, it was background noise

10:30am surely is not a time to be annoyed by a motorbike !

Sparklingbrook · 15/01/2018 21:02

I don't think there's anything that's not your fault TBH lola. Sad Grin

Sorry for double post. Think my interweb is playing up.

You can be annoyed by a noisy motorbike any time you like really.

lolaflores · 15/01/2018 21:05

Aga1 that's heartening. There is hope for me then.

OP posts:
lolaflores · 15/01/2018 21:13

Yeah in theory SPARKLINGBROOK I ought to be allowed to feel that way but it's not Concorde, so it doesn't count. Can't compete with sonic boom you see!

Right here's the chart we need to be looking at. Looks like military jet is the pinnacle of noise.

Look at vacuum cleaners? 🤔. Should I warm mine up in an act of belligerent retaliation then? WHERE is snoring then?

OP posts:
ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/01/2018 21:49

DH's snoring is somewhere to the North of the Large Orchestra.

Sparklingbrook · 15/01/2018 21:50

I always warm my vacuum up for 5 minutes before starting. That's just normal isn't it?

WonkyDonkey74 · 17/01/2018 18:00

I am a biker, I personally will turn mine on and wait until my engine has stopped revving and settles down before riding away as I don't like the loose throttle during this time. It is not something I do, the bike revs on her own. In the summer it doesn't take long, in the winter she takes a little longer to warm up/settle. I use the time to get my helmet, gloves and cameras on.

Whilst the noise is obviously annoying you, I don't see the issue given the times he is leaving/arriving and for only 10 minutes a day. Also, you state he has L plates so I personally think any 125cc bike with a non factory exhaust wouldn't cause that amount of vibration/disturbance because they are not powerful enough. If we were talking bigger engines like mine I would agree. Some baby bikes are like motorised hairdryers, annoying on the ears but that is about it.

I would also like to think the chap is super proud of his bike and would be loving the riding and not really thinking if it was bothering a neighbour. Maybe there are things you do on a daily basis, that you think nothing of doing, but it actually bothers your neighbours. We all have our irritations and have to put up with other people's behaviour. Maybe you are able to do something else at these times, as a distraction to help you.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 17/01/2018 18:21

Blimey Donkey, why did no one else think of suggesting that until now?

derangedmermaid · 17/01/2018 18:34

You're not being unreasonable to be annoyed by it.

But there's not much you can do about it. Man needs to get to wherever he's going.

I've got a house renovation going on opposite me at the moment, they start at 7, very loud workmen. I've only shouted out of the window "shut the fuck up" once, but that's because next door does nights

Sparklingbrook · 17/01/2018 18:36

Oh no. The thread has been bumped again. Sad

lolaflores · 17/01/2018 18:40
