To wonder WTF Next has such an obsession with...

Unicorns. I was trying to buy my daughter some t-shirts and struggled to find anything that didn’t have a unicorn design. So I searched for unicorns on their site and there are SIXTY SIX unicorn offerings for girls in their range. What the fuck is that all about?

There are ZERO for boys BTW

I just bought this t shirt for DD. You can also get it for boys. Grin

They had a ok sweatshirt in next for children. Then I realised it didn’t have a hem, it was rough cut and open. Why can’t we have a hem.

WickedGoodDoge · 13/01/2018 21:50

Not that my t shirt has anything to do with Next!

LockedOutOfMN · 13/01/2018 21:51

I like Uniqlo for children's clothes. Me too, and the quality is decent. Also Zara. I go into the sale there once or twice a year and sweep up a bunch of stuff in each of the DCs' size.

MiddlingMum · 13/01/2018 21:56

I have a £10 voucher for Next. I've been in three times and can't find anything at all I'd buy or put it towards. I think I'm just going to give it to a homeless person, they could at least choose some new socks.

ShatnersBassoon · 13/01/2018 21:57

I think we're well past peak unicorn, Next should know when to stop flogging a dead dickhead horse. Sloths have had a shot at high street success, but t'int happening. I'm hoping for more capybara love in 2018.

LightastheBreeze · 13/01/2018 22:01

MiddlelingMum, I would just buy some lightbulbs or a couple of hand towels or something like that

BikeRunSki · 13/01/2018 22:51

There’s a Coop supermarket with a Peacocks in near me. Seems weird, but shouldn’t be weirder than big supermarkets that sell clothes.

ThisLittleKitty · 13/01/2018 22:57

How old was the child up thread who said they're just like horses with penises on their heads What an odd thing to say.

Was thinking the same.

Anyway it's not just unicorns that are for girls. Cats also are aswell apparently. My son loves cat but can never find any boys clothes with them on. He recently found a cat hat and scarf in the girls section in primark he wanted it so I bought it for him but we've already had comments from people that he shouldn't be wearing it!

I have those slippers! Bought for me for Xmas.

I have loved Unicorns for a long time. Now everyone bloody loves them (except MN)

pastabest · 13/01/2018 23:13

I've been really struggling to find decent basics for DD who is nearly 1.

What's the obsession with polo necks this season for children.

I bet none of the designers have ever tried to squeeze a toddler into a polo neck.

Sparklingbrook · 13/01/2018 23:14

I think those slippers would be a hazard going up and down stairs. In the words of Lynn Faulds Wood-'potential death trap'.

Nanny0gg · 13/01/2018 23:21

When Next first opened locally they had a cafe in the store. We're talking back in the late Eighties.

They did the most fabulous salads.

Full price Boden is expensive but you might want to check out their sale stuff, they do offer really good discounts regularly if you don't mind checking once a week... that's if you like their stuff! You might not!

saladdays66 · 13/01/2018 23:26

It’s a trend. It will pass. I quite like the idea of unicorns. Could be a lot worse!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 13/01/2018 23:30

Shouldnotwouldnot. Mine has a Costa too. Or should I say, my Costa is surrounded by a Next store 🤔😂. Is yours on a giant round about?!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 13/01/2018 23:32

I prefer the unicorn ‘thing’ to the skull ‘thing’.

BlooBagoo · 13/01/2018 23:34

I've always loved unicorns but even I'm sick of them everywhere now, the unicorn food craze has to be the worst part though.

kokosnuss · 13/01/2018 23:55

I tried to buy a nice diary in Paperchase and they all had unicorns on. It's the new big cute fad, like pugs.

At least unicorns are mythical so people can't go out and actually buy one (or they would).

aSleepyPrincess · 14/01/2018 08:38

Umm me & dd (7) love unicorns. We have recently decorated her room with unicorn wallpaper so it's a trend that won't be going anywhere for a while in our house Blush

Shouldnotwouldnot · 14/01/2018 15:24

annieanonimouse no, just a bog standard retail park!

OP posts:
Snowysky20009 · 14/01/2018 15:25

It's 2018 version of pugs

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 14/01/2018 15:37

At least unicorns are mythical so people can't breed mutant animals with extensive health problems for profit.

EB123 · 14/01/2018 15:38

I think Unicorms will start to fade away in the next few months.
