Unicorns. I was trying to buy my daughter some t-shirts and struggled to find anything that didn’t have a unicorn design. So I searched for unicorns on their site and there are SIXTY SIX unicorn offerings for girls in their range. What the fuck is that all about?

There are ZERO for boys BTW

There's Costa in Homebase. I suppose you might want a coffee while you decide on the paint colours. Grin

So you might need refreshment in Next while you decide which piece of horrible Unicorn merchandise you will buy?

StickThatInYourPipe · 13/01/2018 20:58

So I like funky mugs, I have a few unicorn ones. Dps family have taken that to mean I love all unicorn stuff.

I can’t move for the amount of unicorn stuff they got me for Christmas, I am now very much unicorned out haha!

NoWordForFluffy · 13/01/2018 21:00

The Costa in Homebase is for when you've lost the will to live trying to decide on paint / wallpaper etc! Grin

I never stay in Next long enough to need a cake though.

neddle · 13/01/2018 21:03

@pooryorick ikea have toy horses.

yulefool · 13/01/2018 21:06

Agree the next kids stuff is shite -I tried to find dd a summer dress in there last year, all spaghetti straps and massive ruffles for £35 - who the hell pays those prices for that crap?

I did love next 18 years ago, now I’d be hard pressed to tell primary and next stuff apart, quality wise.

Babyroobs · 13/01/2018 21:10

I have grown up women colleagues who are obsessed with unicorns ! Bizarre !

Jux · 13/01/2018 21:11

Next were so good, and different, when they first started. Really worth going to. It's sad that that's changed so much.

WhendoIgetadayoff · 13/01/2018 21:16

Girls clothes in general in shops re dire. My daughter regularly sees all pink and sparkly stuff in girls section, sighs, and goes to boys section for tshirts and trainers. She’s primary age and says shops just don’t understand girls.

Girls shoes would need a whole new thread.

BikeRunSki · 13/01/2018 21:19

Dd(6) hates unicorn/fairies/princess stuff. I bought her some socks from Next that we thought were very cool because they had planets and shooting stars on. Bizarrely also unicorns!

Bigfatpicnic · 13/01/2018 21:22

Everything in moderation. I like unicorns, but that is too many. Way too many.

Ironfloor · 13/01/2018 21:25

Unicorns are the new fidget spinner.

Micksout · 13/01/2018 21:29

Agree with the unicorn overload but I find next the only place I can get ok quality boys clothes in nice colours without stupid slogans on them al a Tesco and Asda.

Shouldnotwouldnot · 13/01/2018 21:33

My local Next has a Costa

I like Uniqlo for children's clothes.

I was in there the other day trying to spend Christmas vouchers I had been gifted. Omg it's so bad. Every item has some hideous design feature that makes it unwearable. They are also obsessed with jumpers with fake shirts underneath...wtf is that all about...a jumper with fake cuffs and shirt tails attached...for why?? Who wants that?

bellie710 · 13/01/2018 21:43

Trying to buy swimming costumes at Next for a 12 year old and they all had fecking Unicorns!! Same with H&M and Hello Kitty on their 10-12 clothes, most kids grow out of that when they are 5!

pictish · 13/01/2018 21:44

Plus their fabrics are just awful. Very nasty.

itsgettinghotinhere80 · 13/01/2018 21:46

next girls clothes are rubbish now, cheap fabrics and tacky designs, grim. They are okay for bright plain leggings but that's about it

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 13/01/2018 21:47

My niece works part time in Next. Staff are always offered first dibs on the sale stuff. No one ever takes it up!

goose1964 · 13/01/2018 21:47

M&co do nice children's clothes, as do Zara great prices in both their sales. Haven't bought anything from Next for years

WindyWednesday · 13/01/2018 21:48

The younger girls stuff is lovely, but I don’t want to put my dd in off the shoulder frilly tops, because you go up a age size, past 5-6 clothes it all mad. M&S is crazy fashion. I don’t know where to buy clothes for children.

RumAppleGinger · 13/01/2018 21:49

I tried to buy my son's clothes from Asda last year and every fucking t-shirt said either epic, awesome or dude on it I some way. It's like the fuck Bro Department had been put in charge of children's wear.

These trends come and go though. Here's hoping the unicorn one is over soon although it will just be replaced with some other shite.

LockedOutOfMN · 13/01/2018 21:49

DD (6) has been wearing her older brother's clothes most of the time since October as she had a growth spurt over the summer so when autumn arrived this year she'd grown out of all of her warmer stuff and we had several consecutive weekends when we had to go away so we never got around to shopping and just dug out some hand me downs to keep her going. 4 months later and she's absolutely happy as Larry in "plain" jeans (no glitter, no unicorns, no pink bits) and red and blue tops with things like dinosaurs on as well as DS' old dark grey winter coat.

And she's always worn her brother's old trainers as he has Guinness Book of Records worthy fast growing feet. I swear he can grow out of shoes between leaving the shoe shop and arriving home an hour later.

So I've missed the unicorn fad, so far, and I don't think anyone is missing out...
