They got a dog before Christmas, the poor thing is left alone all day long locked in the bathroom.(The reason I know this is because of the echo sound next to our bathroom). It's been left alone all day yesterday, all night last night,no lights on or cars there (they have two cars). The howling and crying has kept me,my ds and husband awake all night :( poor thing sounds so forlorn and not even been out for one wee!
Was i being unreasonable to post a polite note through the door regarding the noise? My husband is half deaf so for him to hear it too is something. He's gone to work 7am shattered, son gone to school feeling the same.We have a dog and understand we can't take him everywhere with us but all day and all night?I feel so sorry for the poor thing Sad

I'd contact the dog warden. RSPCA are pretty useless in these sort of circumstances anyway. Why on earth do people get dogs if they aren't prepared to look after them??!!! Angry

Forgettheworld · 11/01/2018 16:41

This breaks my heart. I hope you’ve managed to speak to someone. We would love a dog but I just know with Work we wouldn’t be able to give it the time and attention dogs need. Wish other people would think before getting them.

Mulberrybaby · 11/01/2018 16:51

Please call someone, that is so cruel. It’s really upset me! Please don’t sit back whilst this poor animal is being tortured. 😭

spangles1963 · 11/01/2018 16:51

I would contact the RSPCA about it.

RhiannonOHara · 11/01/2018 17:02

I'd be phoning the police, the council and the RSPCA

This, absolutely. They're either cruel or stupid.

whiskyowl · 11/01/2018 17:04

People who are out all day shouldn't have dogs! It's just not fair on the animal, or the neighbours.

Laiste · 11/01/2018 17:11

Is the dog shut in the bathroom all day routinely?

A parent at school had an emergency with their child, had to go to hospital, and while waiting for the ambulance bunged their dog in the bathroom with a big bowl of water big bowl of food and a blanket in the bath. She was away until the same time the next evening. One poo and one wee to clean up but otherwise all fine. It was a one off though.

Merrymumoftwo · 11/01/2018 17:13

RSPCA or dog warden most police forces don’t deal with animals left at home alone. Unfortunately cuts mean they are too busy and being relied on lots at present by ambulance service

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3066195-ndn-dog-continues-to-destroy-me haven't read it but may be answers here.

Snowdrop18 · 11/01/2018 17:16

people asking re routine, OP said they only got the dog at Christmas.

Jux · 12/01/2018 22:34

Oh dear, they really shouldn't have a dog at all, should they? Do ring whatever we have like a dog warden, and keep calling the RSCPA and Council and annoy them as much as you can. Record the poor thing too.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/01/2018 23:28

They got the dog before Christmas and its locked in the bathroom by day but it sounds like this is the first time it has howled all night?

So they could've had it 3-4 weeks by now , maybe day/bathroom night/crated (not ideal by any stretch)

OP - any response from NDN?

Jux · 13/01/2018 16:55

Any response from RSPCA?
