The refuse to buy any Creme Eggs as people are opening them in the shops

i can't be alone in being grossed out at the prospect of buying and eating one, that someone/several people have peeled back with there bare hands to see if it's a winning egg?

What a stupid idea!

Nah, since EvilKraftCorp took over, there is so little real chocolate in a creme egg that I would not rely on the ingredient list being different for a white choc version.

bridgetreilly · 11/01/2018 00:44

I wouldn't eat another one until they start making them with proper Dairy Milk again.

ThisLittleKitty · 11/01/2018 00:48

I'm probably the type of person who needs to taste the old one then the new one after to notice the difference as they taste the same to me. But then I think mini eggs taste the same aswell.

heartyrebel · 11/01/2018 02:23

Cadbury tastes sweeter and grainier and oilier than it used to. I don't buy it anymore. We have Whittakers in nz which is way nicer imo

cariadlet · 11/01/2018 05:57

i hadn't heard about the competition before this thread. But I am pissed off at seeing so many Easter eggs (Cadbury's creme eggs and other ones) in the shops when we're not even half way through January.

Ski4130 · 11/01/2018 07:52

Heartyrebel, the Cadbury's in NZ tastes rank, I stopped eating it when we lived there because it tasted so.chemically. Whittakers was my saviour (but not the L & P flavour, that was hideous, and I liked L & P, it just didn't translate into chocolate!)

juliesaway · 11/01/2018 07:58

I just can’t eat Cadbury’s chocolate any more. The quality is just so poor. It is popular though and piled high in the supermarkets so some people must like it.

UnicornRainbowColours · 11/01/2018 07:59

They are rank anyway but now their even ranker.

RadioGaGoo · 11/01/2018 08:03

Needmoresleep is singlehandedly bringing down the Cadburys Creme Egg empire Grin

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/01/2018 08:21

This thread is so Mumsnet. People refusing to buy a product that they would never have done anyway because they think said product is cheap and nasty and now has the added disincentive due to the great fear of germs.

I really don't think people are going to be sucummbing to terrible illnesses because they have eaten something that has had fleeting contact with someone else’s potentially unwashed finger some hours/days ago.

Don't any of you lot ever handle money, door handles, use cash machines etc?

Notreallyarsed · 11/01/2018 08:59

Well obviously but I don’t tend to lick them. Do you? I’m happy to wash my hands after handling those things before eating.

TillyMint81 · 11/01/2018 09:23

The idea that staff are going through them is annoying. I'd love to have time to even think about doing it!
This stunt reminds me of the bottled coke one with the underside of the lid letting you know you had won. All you had to do was tip the bottle slightly and you could see the answer! Massive fail.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 11/01/2018 11:10

BarbaraofSevillle-I don't tend to eat money, do you? Grin

Except plenty of them would have bought them, like OP. Its hardly unreasonable to not fancy eating chocolate that multiple people have unwrapped and handled.

ReelingLush18 · 11/01/2018 11:55

Why not make people ask for them at a till point otherwise surely many will be unsellable?

wasonthelist · 11/01/2018 11:59

Cadburys are gits. Stopped buying years ago.

allertse · 11/01/2018 12:08

Am I the only one who read about them and was horrified by the idea of opening a creme egg and finding white chocolate... can't stand the stuff!

A few £££ as a prize and I'd probably get over it pretty fast though Grin

AnElderlyLadyOfMediumHeight · 11/01/2018 12:11

Like others, am just Shock at creme eggs in bloody January. Madness.

babigailwabble · 11/01/2018 12:11

eurgh!! what a stupid idea Envy

HevvaSoBored · 11/01/2018 16:51

My mum talks about palm oil like it's a good thing Confused

spangles1963 · 11/01/2018 16:55

The ingredients will tell you if it's a winning egg? Really? I have been enlightened! heads off to the nearest shop that sells Cream Eggs

Jozxyqk · 11/01/2018 17:04

I tasted a creme egg once. I vaguely remember digging the filling out with a teaspoon & binning it, then eating the chocolate. No chance now - a teaspoon wouldn't fit inside as they've made them smaller, & the chocolate is rank oily crap. It doesn't even melt, whoever heard of chewy milk chocolate!

Kraft are to British chocolate, what the Conservative government are to the NHS.

HelenaDove · 11/01/2018 17:39

heartyrebel DH has eaten boxes and boxes of Whitakers Coffee Creams He loves them.

We are in the UK Iceland and B&M were selling them.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 11/01/2018 17:41

Yanbu. And YY I swear Cadbury’s chocolate tastes worse now. Either that or I’m tres sophis now Grin. I’d put money on it being the former though, as I’m not the latter!

Fekko · 11/01/2018 17:43

What do you win though?
