To wonder if I can get away with wearing a tiara?

Getting married this summer, simple dress and discreet pearl jewellery. Would it be awfully tacky to top it off with a tiara?

Something along these lines: www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_37484+JRTA023207_-1

I think that’s lovely. I was imagining a Katie Price style monstrosity. That’s just a lovely jewelled headband style tiara. If you can’t wear a tiara on your wedding day when can you?

PlateOfBiscuits · 09/01/2018 20:36

When else are you going to wear a tiara?! I say go for it.

user764329056 · 09/01/2018 20:38

Very pretty and understated, perfect for a summer wedding

Hassled · 09/01/2018 20:38

That's lovely - and if you can't wear a tiara on your wedding day then really, what's going on? Buy it.

MrsExpo · 09/01/2018 20:38

Its beautiful and perfect for the occasion. Go for it and enjoy ... I'm sure you'll look gorgeous.

YesILikeItToo · 09/01/2018 20:39

One of my greatest regrets is not having found time to buy a tiara for my wedding. So I would say wear the tiara.

peachgreen · 09/01/2018 20:40

I had one and it was beautiful. Subtle and classy. More a jewelled headband than a tiara. Go for it!

CJCreggsGoldfish · 09/01/2018 20:41

That's lovely. Definitely wear a tiara if you want too. I had one for my wedding and still love it 7 years later.

Nicae · 09/01/2018 20:44

I'm not a a glittery, sparkly kind of person at all and when the lovely ladies in the shop where I bought my wedding dress started talking about tiaras I just laughed... then I tried one on! I absolutely loved wearing it, it was similar to the one in your picture and made my fairly plain hairstyle look much fancier. Definitely go for it!

BulletFox · 09/01/2018 20:45

That one's fine. It's really pretty.

I was worried about what you were going to suggest before I clicked on the link!

FadedRed · 09/01/2018 20:46

It's lovely, go for it!

SameWitches · 09/01/2018 20:47

I was coming onto this thread to say yes, you can and should wear a tiara. I often wear one at work (child based workplace) and whenever I drink champagne at home with DH. But then I saw it's actually for your wedding so hell yes, buy the tiara, wear the tiara on your wedding day and then you'll have a lovely tiara to wear whenever the mood takes you! Which I hope will be often.

altiara · 09/01/2018 20:50

Thought you were going to say to work!
But for a wedding - yes definitely! When else! (Although I quite like the wear a tiara to work idea Blush)

FairfaxAikman · 09/01/2018 20:51

That's lovely- simple and understated.

I had something similar for my wedding (was wanting a Greek key one like Zara Phillips had but didn't think I'd be able to persuade Liz to lend it to me) and once you've got the full finery on it won't look out of place

To wonder if I can get away with wearing a tiara?
Terramirabilis · 09/01/2018 20:52

I wore a ribbon band with a sparkly bit on it that was a step down from a tiara but still blingy if a tiara feels too much. Something like this: www.advantagebridal.com/satin-rhinestone-bridal-headband.html

RavenWings · 09/01/2018 20:53

I thought you were going to ask could you wear one in daily life. You know, popping out to the shops for a pint of milk sort of thing.

Anyway I like it - seems more headbandy than what I was expecting. You can get tiaras quite cheaply on AliExpress and they are often where pricey boutiques get their stock. There was a bit of an xpose done on an Irish fashion blogger doing exactly this!

LyraPotter · 09/01/2018 20:53

Not at all, that looks very pretty!

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 09/01/2018 20:55

Yanbu. I think that looks lovely.

I was all ready to say ywbu till I read your op and realised you were getting married!

DaisysStew · 09/01/2018 20:55

Tiaras are beautiful and your wedding is pretty much the only time it wouldn’t be ott to wear one (unless you’re a princess 👸) Go for it.

BigGreenOlives · 09/01/2018 20:57

Have you seen there’s another tiara on the same website reduced to £18. Why not order both & if you like the £18 version you’ve saved £42!

jaseyraex · 09/01/2018 20:58

If you can't wear a tiara on your wedding day, when can you?! Go for it. It's lovely. A hell of a lot more subtle than mine was Grin

Crumbs1 · 09/01/2018 21:07

LOts of brides have a family tiara as the ‘something old’ and it usually looks lovely.

LadyPenelopeCantDance · 09/01/2018 21:08

That’s gorgeous OP. Etsy have got lots of lovely ones too.

HaggisMcNeepyFace · 09/01/2018 21:10

I'm so chuffed that you all like it! I thought I was going to get shot down! And thanks for the tips and other links too. Will definitely wear it in any future champagne-quaffing situation to get the most wear out of it!

Crumbs, I'd be less reticent if it was a family tiara. Buying it myself seems a bit wrong somehow!
