AIBU to be think dogs (and cats) are uncannily perceptive to the point of spookiness. One dog I had used to press himself against my legs whenever I had a few stairs to climb. I used to get ratty and tell him off, until I realised he thought he was helping (I have walking difficulties). Another dog would sit squarely in front of any family member who was ill at the time, whenever someone knocked on the door. Just uncanny and brilliant, love 'em!

DS has autism. He is adult now and lives in supported living, doing very wellSmile When he was growing up, our ddog would suddenly rush to get into his dog bed, out of the way. Five minutes later, ds would have one of his meltdowns, lashing out at everyone. When it was over ddog would come out of his bed and go sit with ds, comforting and licking. Brilliant dog (Lab)
