To be mad over a cake?

So dh turned 30 today, and I did my best to make it a special day for him, despite not having a great deal of money after Christmas.
I ordered him a simple cake with a design of something he loves and had it personalised. Posted a photo on fb of dh blowing out his candles with ds, was a lovely moment to share, and one of my friends has commented below with a photo of the cake she got her dh the year before, same type of design only much, much better! (think 3 tier, extras on top, etc)
No comment to go with it, just the photo. I replied back with "Gee thanks!" but no reply from her.
AIBU to feel annoyed? Or is it the fact that I was up most of the night, feel horrible with a throat and ear infection, and I'm just being a grouchy mare? 🙈😅

Unfriend.

Seriously they are not your friend.
Dont stew over it or expect better just unfriend.

PinkHeart5914 · 07/01/2018 19:15

So this friend is the anything you’ve done, they’ve done better type? You’ve run a marathon they’ve run all the way to Spain and back in a day. Or Maybe she’s just a miserable so and so

Don’t be upset though, your dh liked his cake I’m sure 🍰 although it is a bit weird and annoying

DottyS · 07/01/2018 19:16

This was not a nice thing for your friend to so but please do not waste any more of your precious time on her. Unfriend and move on and I hope you feel better soon. Flowers

etap · 07/01/2018 19:21

Awful of your friend

64BooLane · 07/01/2018 19:22

Could it be that she didn't really think of her dh's cake as "better" but was just responding to the similarity of the design, and thought it would make you smile?

Not saying YABU, but it does sound a bit like it might be one of those unintentional offense things, in which you understandably think she's being a twat but in fact it just didn't occur to her. (Which also might explain her not replying to your comment)

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 07/01/2018 19:22

What did she actually say?

WhooooAmI24601 · 07/01/2018 19:22

This is what the 'unfriend' option is for. Anyone who uses Facebook to compete, show off or brag should be given a deadleg til they apologise.

KC225 · 07/01/2018 19:25

Not funny and bad form. I would unfriendly in Facebook until she acquires some online manners

CrackersForlt · 07/01/2018 19:26

You can delete people's comments on your posts..

Not sure why the God's of correction slip a ly on the end of my unfriend.

HisBetterHalf · 07/01/2018 19:27

no friend, just a bragger

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 07/01/2018 19:28

What a saddo. (Her, I mean).

64BooLane · 07/01/2018 19:29

Depending on how close you are, I wouldn't unfriend until you're totally sure she was being mean-spirited rather than just well-meaningly socially tone-deaf.

I could be overthinking it. This stuff is such a minefield though! You hear about misunderstandings all the time.

(I'm not her, btw Grin)

BornInSydneyy · 07/01/2018 19:29

What did she actually say?

Clearly says in the OP that there was no comment just a photo.

Is she a you've been to Tenerife, she's been to Elevenerife type of 'friend'?

Rainbowsandunicornsandpoop · 07/01/2018 19:37

Thanks everyone, glad it's not just me.
We're not all that close, met about a year or so ago and she's a very funny type of person-always cracking jokes and finding every little thing hilarious, so I guess she could have just been making a joke.

Will wait and see if she ends up replying, she's offline atm.

I just wouldn't respond if you're offended. Cake threads often end up with people posting their own photos and i wouldn't see it as malicious necessarily. One of my friends does this. She's an amazing baker. It's not meant to make my creations look bad so I don't take offence.

NewYearNewMe18 · 07/01/2018 19:41

Do you think it was her way of saying 'great minds think alike' ?

FizzyGreenWater · 07/01/2018 19:42

Comment underneath "Lovely cake! Where did you buy it, Elevenerife?"

and see if anyone sniggers

CuddlyWolf · 07/01/2018 19:43

Oh gosh, that's horrible for you. But actually I think 64's comments might be right? What are your instincts - does she often do things like this?

GeekyWombat · 07/01/2018 19:44

I was about to reference Elevenerife! :D

Definitely unfriend or at least delete the post and hide it from her.

Jenny17 · 07/01/2018 19:47
