To be fuming with Laura Ashley?

So I ordered a few bits and bobs on Boxing Day - just a few teatowels, a handbag and a purse, nothing big. Delivery was supposed to be within 10 days, and when I messaged them on facebook yesterday, my order had still not been dispatched or even put together.
I am seriously tempted to ring them up, cancel my order and demand a refund. This is ridiculous. URGH!

Rant over.

Fuming? Really?

Did you need them for a particular date?

Laiste · 07/01/2018 17:05

I love Laura Ashley furnishings. I have a couple of pairs of their curtains and some table lamps. The one in our shopping center has closed down - I hope they're not going out of business but if there's less shops AND they can't master online customer service then i suppose they will :(

oursofas · 07/01/2018 17:06

I ordered a lampshade from Laura Ashley before Christmas, and they delivered an empty box (was sealed and the box itself didn't look like it had been tampered with).

Yes, this. It’s a shame, as their sales are often great hand January seems to be birthday month for me), but it just seems too much like hard work.

Bluntness100 · 07/01/2018 17:15

I like them too, the problem is they aren't really a viable contender on line. I dislike having to wait at least two weeks for goods and having no visibility over whether it's been dispatched or not and no real concept over when goods will arrive it's basically a "hopefully two weeks but could be much longer " is their commitment.

As said, they can't even manage twitter properly and use it as a advertising platform, whilst blatantly ignoring their customer tweets.

They are like Kodak. Who failed to move with the market and went out of business.

Unless someone buys them up a lot of people will lose their jobs. It will just be another high street name like Woolworths who fell by the way side.

MavisPike · 07/01/2018 17:16

I have just ordered from them , it said up to 10 days for delivery . I assume its 10 working days

MyBrilliantDisguise · 07/01/2018 17:18

Dotty are you saying that 25 years ago someone followed you around the shop and you have never bought anything from them since?

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 07/01/2018 17:20

Fuming? Over tea towels and a purse? Is it a life saving purse?

JaneEyre70 · 07/01/2018 17:20

We ordered some lights in their sale, took around 14 days but was no issue. Was there an option for express delivery?

ooodile · 07/01/2018 17:21

Maybe I come from the days of "allow 28 days for delivery" when ordering from the Sunday supplement magazines Grin, but waiting a bit longer than 10 days for stuff I knew I'd have to wait 10 days for, and there's no life or death dependency on it? I'd have to find something more important to fume over.

I suppose it's all "Amazon Prime" related nowadays where everyone expects delivery 15 minutes after they've clicked buy. I'm reserving my "fuming" for the really bad stuff....

greendale17 · 07/01/2018 17:56

Stupid thread

greendale17 · 07/01/2018 18:02

I love Laura Ashley furnishings.

Used to be good but last few years the quality has gone downhill. Prices are overinflated and their sales and discounts are reminiscent of DFS.

Psychobabble123 · 07/01/2018 18:03

Christ on a bike, get some perspective OP! You are fuming over waiting for some teatowels and a purse?! And as for the poster not shopping in LA for 25 years after one experience, the mind boggles!

DottyS · 07/01/2018 18:15

Yes - I have never bought anything again in LA. My choice - daft or otherwise. You may like being treated like a shoplifter I did not so they lost my custom. And if that boggles your mind you must lead a really boring life Grin

Ispy123 · 07/01/2018 18:17

This happened to me. I placed an order on 20th december,I phoned 29th December and it had still not been dispatched....i received it 2 days later.

Petalflowers · 07/01/2018 18:22

I've ordered stuff from Next. And had to wait weeks

AdiosPeaceOfRoast · 07/01/2018 18:23

Gap are like this now. Their shipping used to be quick but now they hold to 7 working days and it’s just too long for me. You just don’t expect it compared to other stores, and even themselves previously.

They take forever to refund too. So I’m for with them, as they have horrendous retail stores now too. Shame.

Bratsandtwats · 07/01/2018 18:26

Fuming over a 10 working day wait for tea towels? Wow!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 07/01/2018 19:06

I find their delivery way too long as well. And iirc, they charge you a (relatively steep) postage cost no matter how much you spend, which I find irritating.

I agree with pp, I think they will go out of business soon. They're doing that discount thing where there's regularly 40% off, which means I would never buy anything unless that was on. Why would you?!

Floellabumbags · 07/01/2018 19:12

Are you properly fumming? Shaking with rage? You should go to the Daily Mail, they'd love it.

Psychobabble123 · 07/01/2018 19:54

It blows my mind that anyone can be that petty, but there you go...

midnightmisssuki · 07/01/2018 20:02

Grin fuming. Really?!?! You need some real problems in your life. And you also need to know that it’s hasnt been 10 working days yet....... Brew

DottyS · 07/01/2018 20:14

Psychobabble123 No - not petty.

Petty would be doing that to a friend not a big fashion chain who could not treat their customers with respect.

Anniethinggose · 07/01/2018 20:54

I ordered some rugs on Boxing Day, still waiting also. If I recall, last time they didn't send me a dispatch email or to say the stuff was in transit, so I can't arrange to be in when it gets delivered, so I'll probably be waiting twice as long.

Backinten · 07/01/2018 20:57

You must be so embarrassed Grin
