Just incase it’s not obvious.....this is only light hearted and no judging on the McD’s please.

My dad was going to McDonald’s for a snack (his words!) and asked if I wanted anything. Not really hungry but said I’d have some fries and banana milkshake, you know seen as he’s going.
He brought me a chocolate milkshake! No banana apparently, but why chocolate? He said because chocolate and banana go together Confused what that’s to do with anything I haven’t a clue.
And they had strawberry.......he apparently didn’t know I like strawberry milkshake! But thought I’d like chocolate! Everyone knows chocolate is the worst milkshake flavor, right?
And he’s only known me my entire life, ffs!

So am I being unreasonable to say go back and get me a strawberry one? Or he should at least give me his cheese burger as compensation, as I’m actually feeling hungry now!!

After reading this thread yesterday I asked DD (who works in McDonald's) why they all have a banana taste whatever the flavour and she said they all come out the same nozzle and banana is the most popular flavour so whatever flavour gets pumped next will have a small bit of previous milkshake residue so more than likely the last one was banana

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 07/01/2018 17:30

Yes they do all come out the same nozzle so each milkshake gets a minuscule shot of the flavour used before it.

McDonalds are some of the cleanest restaurants you will ever come across. The standard of hygiene expected is rightly high and it is stuck to.

When my friend was pregnant, she refused to eat out anywhere but McDonalds because she knew someone who worked there who said they were absolutely rigid with their hygiene standards.

Yep, we are. We have high hygiene standards and we stick to them, same as our high food quality standards too. We may offer value for money but that doesn’t mean we don’t take everything seriously as some people appear to believe.

(And no, I don’t work for them publicity wise! I happily work as a crew member.)

Well he promises he asked for banana and there was none left! For the sake of our father/daughter relationship, I’m going to trust him.......plus he did give me half his cheeseburger last night and he’s been a Star this weekend, when I’ve really needed him.

But he knows for future reference it goes banana, strawberry, McFlurry!

Interesting some people not liking banana flavouring but liking banana. That’s what I’m like with chocolate, love chocolate but never been a fan of chocolate flavoured ice cream and puddings like angel delight or mousse type stuff! You would think my own father would know that about me though, wouldn’t you.

Banana milkshake is incredible. I'm on uber eats now considering one.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 07/01/2018 20:21

Chocolate flavoured things are grim.

Emboo19 · 07/01/2018 20:26

McDonald’s even say it’s a firm favourite! Doesn’t say that for the other flavours 🍌🍌

Banana milkshake tastes of antibiotics from the 90's. Blergh.

MrsEl · 07/01/2018 21:13

OP I felt your pain today- DH went through McD's drive through for lunch for both of us whilst I popped into the shop for bread etc. He only got me a VANILLA milkshake Hmm! He said he didn't think I liked strawberry, which is my fave btw- well get me banana then, anything but VANILLA??! Of course he got himself a strawberry one and only offered to swap when he'd drank most of it.

Why did I marry this man?! He obviously doesn't know me at all!

ArbitraryName · 07/01/2018 21:17

Back in the dark ages when I worked in Maccy D’s, banana was by far the least popular flavour of milkshake.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 07/01/2018 21:20

Emboo19 I can only tell you how it sells in our store, and that’s that strawberry and chocolate far outsell it. I don’t actually like milkshakes so am not biased in terms of flavours Grin

Even if they didn’t have it, which is certainly possible, it’s not that there were “none left” as though they’re already pre-made; they’re not. It’s that they will have run out of the syrup and were waiting for it to be delivered.

tumpymummy · 08/01/2018 00:00

Ive never understood why you cant get thickshakes at McDs at service stations on the motorway? Anyone know?

SixSausages · 08/01/2018 04:42

tumpy they're not thickshakes, they're milkshakes.. where is it that you've been that you can't get them?

I know some stores that are inside Asda's sometimes have a limited menu due to space but I've never heard of stores not selling milkshakes.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 08/01/2018 05:50

tumpymummy Like I said up thread, McDonalds likes to maintain a consistent standard across all its stores in the U.K. (barring of course taste trials) so I would be very surprised if there were stores that didn’t sell milkshakes.

And yeah, they’re not “thickshakes”, they’re milkshakes.
