Just incase it’s not obvious.....this is only light hearted and no judging on the McD’s please.

My dad was going to McDonald’s for a snack (his words!) and asked if I wanted anything. Not really hungry but said I’d have some fries and banana milkshake, you know seen as he’s going.
He brought me a chocolate milkshake! No banana apparently, but why chocolate? He said because chocolate and banana go together Confused what that’s to do with anything I haven’t a clue.
And they had strawberry.......he apparently didn’t know I like strawberry milkshake! But thought I’d like chocolate! Everyone knows chocolate is the worst milkshake flavor, right?
And he’s only known me my entire life, ffs!

So am I being unreasonable to say go back and get me a strawberry one? Or he should at least give me his cheese burger as compensation, as I’m actually feeling hungry now!!

Banana and vanilla are definitely our least popular flavours, with the majority ordering strawberry or chocolate.

But those that do like banana seem to really like it!

BikeRunSki · 07/01/2018 06:23

Chocolate is the best flavour IMO. I don’t go to McD very often, and only go for shakes, and the last 3 times i’ve been, they’ve told me they don’t do shakes anymore - 3 different branches.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 07/01/2018 06:29

BikeRunSki How odd; McDonalds certainly does do milkshakes and we like to be consistent in all stores across the board so they wouldn’t remove it in some and not others.

Perhaps they meant their machine was being heat treated at the time and you were just unlucky to go at that time in each store?

Vitalogy · 07/01/2018 06:51

You were lucky the ice cream machine was working.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 07/01/2018 06:59

The ice cream and milkshake machine is never broken; if we say it isn’t working it’s because it’s being heat treated and it’s easier to just say that than explain what heat treating means.

It’s usually the same people this happens to because it usually always happens at the same time, and people have patterns and routines.

Vitalogy · 07/01/2018 07:08

The ice cream and milkshake machine is never broken; if we say it isn’t working it’s because it’s being heat treated and it’s easier to just say that than explain what heat treating means. I think it would be better to say it's going through a deep clean atm, sound more efficient/compitent than that of a faulty always breaking down appliance.

ForalltheSaints · 07/01/2018 07:15

Please OP do not complain about toilet smells today as a result of your and other family members' consumption of McDonalds stuff. No starting threads similar to the one about the man who dropped his daughter off at work each Saturday!

cdtaylornats · 07/01/2018 07:37

Next time I'd get you a banana and a pint of milk.

Does it bring all the boys to your yard though?

Halfwitpicker

😂😂😂...I do too!

BuckysRoboticArm · 07/01/2018 08:11

Well this is a coincidence. Yesterday I had a milkshake for the first time at McDonald's. I ordered chocolate as I don't like banana or strawberry flavoured things, and vanilla just sounded boring.

As soon as I tried it I thought oh no they've given me banana! Every sip had a distinct banana aftertaste. It was too late to go back so I just binned it.

I thought they must have started to put banana in by accident then filled the rest with chocolate. Apparently not! Very weird.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 07/01/2018 09:06

I think it would be better to say it's going through a deep clean atm, sound more efficient/compitent than that of a faulty always breaking down appliance.

If we say that then we get endless questions like “but why is it being cleaned now?” and leads to further discussion. Saying it’s not working at the moment, which is true, it isn’t, rarely requires an explanation.

LoneRangerTime · 07/01/2018 10:53

I think you'll find the order goes:

  1. Vanilla
  2. Vanilla
  3. Vanilla
  4. McFlurry

Lol

ClashCityRocker · 07/01/2018 11:05

Banana milkshake from maccy ds is the best.

Did we ever figure out whether the machines needed recalibration?

Emboo19 · 07/01/2018 11:11

Oh, so if they are the least popular, do they tend to make up less of those flavours WhatToDo or do we think my dearest father didn’t actually remember what milkshake I wanted and just asked for chocolate?

My chocolate definitely didn’t have any banana taste, although I didn’t actually finish it as it was making me feel sick. Seriously can’t believe people choose that over banana and strawberry. I’m on the fence with vanilla, as I’ve never actually had one! But I don’t think it really should be a milkshake flavour, is it not just a McFlurry?

@WhatToDoAboutThis2017 How long does the deep clean take?

SixSausages · 07/01/2018 11:20

The deep clean tends to take around 4 hours or so.

Vitalogy · 07/01/2018 11:47

Certainly is a deep clean then! SixSausages

Ermmm6 · 07/01/2018 11:50

Chocolate is the best flavour milkshake!
Closely followed by banana.

They definitely go together. If you don’t believe me try mixing a pack of chocolate angel delight with a banana one... double the milk of course since two packets ... heaven! Grin

hungryhippo90 · 07/01/2018 11:53

TBH I have friends who refuse to get a milkshake from McDonald’s because they don’t know how often the machine is cleaned- if they knew it was on a regular cleaning cycle they’d probably buy millshakes.

I don’t care though. I thought actually seeing the syrup for banana milkshakes would’ve turned me off- it didnt!

amusedbush · 07/01/2018 12:07

AnotherEmma

Byron peanut butter cup milkshakes are bloody delicious. They are closing the Glasgow branch (not surprised, it's always empty) and I'm so going to miss the zucchini fries and ranch dip Sad

OP, YANBU. Banana is best, followed by strawberry, then vanilla, then chocolate.

SixSausages · 07/01/2018 12:17

hungryhippo the machine is deep cleaned every day as it's an automatic process, then stripped cleaned manually each part once a week.

Arealhumanbeing · 07/01/2018 12:27

My local McDonald’s is often sold out when I try to order a banana milkshake.

It’s very popular.

YWBU to not include a double cheeseburger in your order. And put some fries in it.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 07/01/2018 16:51

Oh, so if they are the least popular, do they tend to make up less of those flavours WhatToDo or do we think my dearest father didn’t actually remember what milkshake I wanted and just asked for chocolate?

That’s not how it works. The syrups are in bags and then attached to the machine. We then make each milkshake to order.

It sounds like your father just forgot what you wanted. It’s possible they ran out of banana but unlikely as our ordering schedules are usually very accurate.

How long does the deep clean take?

About four hours.

TBH I have friends who refuse to get a milkshake from McDonald’s because they don’t know how often the machine is cleaned

McDonalds are some of the cleanest restaurants you will ever come across. The standard of hygiene expected is rightly high and it is stuck to.

donquixotedelamancha · 07/01/2018 17:03

Everyone knows chocolate is the worst milkshake flavor, right?

WTF is wrong with you?

Hippydippydoo · 07/01/2018 17:10

I thought is was just me that could taste banana even though I always order vanilla! Revelation
