These are brilliant. Ours has never leaked and has been washed and tumble dried a lot over seven years. Nice and breathable too because there's no plastic.

If the child is setting 3/4 times a night then surely it isn't ready to not wear a nappy? Does the child have sn ? My son does and gets large nappies from incontinence services but you can buy them online too.

fkthssht · 05/01/2018 23:24

Yup. Hippy chick and Ikea both successfully tumbled many times. :)

TinselatedTree · 05/01/2018 23:32

But you should keep an eye on the Ikea ones, after about 3 years of tumbling, mine started to get cracks in. I line the side of the mattress with bed mats and then the Ikea one over the top to hold them in place after a night where he managed to wet the side of the mattress.

Brolly sheets are goo and can be tumble dried. You can buy them from ERIC - www.eric.org.uk - the children’s continence charity.

If things are really bad, consider getting a special moisture resistant mattress?

Eg www.toughfurniture.com/product/moisture-resistant-mattress/

Single size £125 + vat.

BigRoundGlasses · 06/01/2018 00:43

Can't get links to work but google Fogarty little sleepers waterproof mattress protector at Dunelm, can definitely TD and only £20.

AlbertaWildRose · 06/01/2018 00:53

Another one for the IKEA ones. DS2 was a horrible bed wetter for a very long time, so I was constantly having to wash and dry them. They worked very well.

TrinitySquirrel · 06/01/2018 06:22

Ikeas waterproof cotbed protectors are tumble dry.

TrinitySquirrel · 06/01/2018 06:23

Alternatively... they do make disposable ones like puppy pads

PorridgeAgainAbney · 06/01/2018 06:39

Not a suggestion about which protector to get but if you or a friend have basic sewing skills you could also consider sewing two mattress protectors together to make a protector for your duvet. You'd probably need to buy two doubles to make sure there's enough fabric to encase the duvet with ease (v simple, just sew together leaving one short side free then put the duvet inside then the 'open' end could go at the bottom of the bed, a bit like a big pillowcase. Or if you are skilled enough sew that end up as well with a long zip which would ensure no slippage and risk of wet getting through): so the duvet would go inside the case then duvet cover on top. Should hopefully at least help prevent the nightmare of a wet duvet needing drying.

Brolly sheets are great

redexpat · 06/01/2018 07:39

ikea.

TheSeasonOfTheWitch · 06/01/2018 07:45

Brolly sheets here too. They are incredible. We've had them 6 years, tumblr dry them, and still perfect.

Mol1628 · 06/01/2018 07:48

Ikea ones. Says on the label they can be tumble dried on low setting. Never had a problem.

BlackLabradorsRock · 06/01/2018 07:54

Brolly Sheets are fantastic.

TheSeasonOfTheWitch · 06/01/2018 10:21

Btw my brolly sheets kept everything dry for my 5 year old who was in aged 10 clothing, v tall, a LOT of pee!
They also smell perfect and look v White even now

Spartaca · 06/01/2018 16:51

Thanks for coming back to me Corbyn. Think I’ll make the jump and try the Hippy Chick protectors.

Might also have a look at the Brolly sheets too.

I think it’s too late for one mattress but I’d like to protect one of our newer beds before it’s too late!

Allthebestnamesareused · 06/01/2018 17:46

We use The White Company ones. They are a bit pricey but certainly the best and tumble dry fine too. Son was under enuresis clinic until aged 15 so we had frequent washing/drying sessions

olivesnutsandcheese · 06/01/2018 17:47

Do you have a B&M homestore shop near you? I got one from there that's tumble dryable and also one from Ponden. Both are for my DS they are the fully waterproof ones with a slight towelling feel on the top

NeverUseThisName · 06/01/2018 18:06

You need to get polyurethane ones.

The only PU ones I have been able to find in recent years have all been fabric backed with PU. Not much use when changing a wet bed at 2am. For our first 5-10 years of soggy children, I had wipe-clean PU mattress-protectors. Much more practical. But they do wear out eventually.

So now I put the PU protectors on the right way up on my non-wetters' beds, but the wrong way up on my wetter's bed. When the PU surface gets wet I wipe it dry, wipe it down with antibac spray and wipe it dry again, before remaking the bed with fresh sheets etc. The protector itself gets washed every few months.

Cubtrouble · 06/01/2018 18:15

Little green sheep co has a very heavy duty thick cotton one like special canvas - washes nd tumbles really well and no leaks.

Will also try some of the ideas on here myself, good luck OP.

Always a headache

LittlePukeko · 17/05/2021 19:53

Brolly sheets are superb, expensive but the only brand we could wash and tumble dry.

We had two on rotation over four years and they were brilliant.

Fuckitfuckit · 17/05/2021 20:02

As mentioned the gokurt? Ikea ones.
Our dog had a habit of pissing on our beds if he was annoyed at us.
They don't feel plasticky, and have had these for a good 18 months plus, we tumble on low but have had no problem couldn't recommend them enough
