A three seater sofa with a windowsill to its left. Person A sits on the left side of the sofa and uses it to put their drinks on it. Person B sits on the right side of the sofa and puts their drink on the floor, down the side of the sofa.

Person A has knocked B's drink over a fair few times now and person B gets angrier each time. Saying A should remember that their is a drink on the floor. Person A thinks B should put their drink on the coffee table or fireplace 3 steps away, a drinknon the floor is bound to be knocked over. Person B says this is unfair. Person A says B is being lazy.

Who is right?

@straycatblue That is great, what did you search for for it to come up?

I think you just found something for me to spend some Christmas money on :)

ShoesHaveSouls · 31/12/2017 12:47

Why does person A keep walking round the sofa and knocking the drink over?

Why does person A not look where they put their feet?

Can't person B see person A stand up from the sofa, and pick up drink/say mind my drink?

Why does person A hog the seat with the windowsill?

Why has person B never thought to put a side table next to their side of the sofa?

So many questions.

Lweji · 31/12/2017 12:49

If person B puts the drinks close enough to the sofa and on the right side of it, how can they be knocked over?

Also: (skip to 3:00)

(or why not pull the table closer to the sofa?)

We need a diagram to evaluate the situation properly. Preferably to scale.

Wilburissomepig · 31/12/2017 12:53

Person A needs to watch where they are going. They should also swap places with B for a bit since they don't mind getting up to get their drink.

Person B needs to get something else to put their drink on.

BusterTheBulldog · 31/12/2017 12:53

Person a is an idiot.

Lweji · 31/12/2017 12:54

Both look like idiots, actually.

"A coffee table would block the way and would need to be moved eachtime a person wants to get passed."

Is the sofa in a small narrow passageway? What are the dimensions of this area?

I think a diagram is needed.

Drinks NOT on floor

gamerwidow · 31/12/2017 12:58

Person B shouldn’t have the drink on the floor. In my house there is a person B who not only puts the drink on the floor but then keeps knocking it over themselves when they forget about it Angry I’m going to buy person B one of those tables that slides over the arm!

Lweji · 31/12/2017 12:59

A coffee table would block the way and would need to be moved eachtime a person wants to get passed.

I missed that Blush, but there is a coffee table three steps away. How small and cluttered is this space?

Lweji · 31/12/2017 13:00

Alternatively, put the drink in a washing bowl by the side of the sofa. At least if it's knocked out, it won't stain the floor/carpet/sofa. Grin

gamerwidow · 31/12/2017 13:01

Straycatblue I also request the link to the table please Grin

There is a coffee table there too.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 31/12/2017 13:04

You’re both wrong! B needs somewhere with reach to put their drink or maybe start using an insulated cu to prevent spills.

Topseyt · 31/12/2017 13:04

A small side table would solve the issue, surely.

Both are being silly, but with drinks on the floor it is an accident always waiting to happen.

FoggieFishieCarpeDiem · 31/12/2017 13:05

Swap seat?

Idk. Drinks shouldn’t really be on the floor or on the sofa... but person A should probably manage to remember where person B tends to put their mug.

On the other hand, if I was person A? I myself would constantly (!!!) forget and get very annoyed. Because why would anyone put a drink on the floor? I put things on the floor when I do want them to ‘trip’ me up. E.g. dirty laundry... or else I forget that I should put them in the laundry container.

What about having a little thingie on the wall behind the sofa(To put your tea cup on)?

Rossigigi · 31/12/2017 13:07

Both wrong- hold your drink in your hand

ZanyMobster · 31/12/2017 13:07

Don't put drinks on the floor, hold it. Asking for it to be knocked over IMO

Lweji · 31/12/2017 13:10

A sippy cup might also help. Or a milk bottle. No spillage.

gingergenius · 31/12/2017 13:17

Has person A got a continence issue requiring frequent visits to the toilet, hence spilling person B's drink?

In which case, person A needs to relinquish their windowsill privileges and perhaps drink less Grin

notangelinajolie · 31/12/2017 13:18

No drinks on the floor allowed at mine, it is an accident waiting to happen. B should have not have put a drink on the floor. Pull the coffee table closer to the settee for person B to use - it can always get pushed back to it's proper place when not in use.
