To hold the tampax string out of the way (or not, as the case may be)!

Chatting to my bf the other day and one of us holds the string out of the way when we have a wee, the other doesn't! Each of us was as incredulous as the other that we would do it 'our way' (iyswim!!)
What do you lot do?

Change it when I have a wee

thenightsky · 30/12/2017 21:58

9 times out of 10 I can't find the string anyway. When I need to do a change I end up delving around for ages. Sometimes I even need to thrust a small handbag mirror down there to find the elusive little bastard.

pasanda · 30/12/2017 21:58

I opened this knowing that the mooncup evangelists would be three comments in. Smile.

Tuck or change.

AfunaMbatata · 30/12/2017 21:58

Surely your hands get wet if you hold it out of the way?! The string is short.

AdultHumanFemale · 30/12/2017 21:59

Obviously. Though mostly use washable pads these days -amazing!

llwynogbach · 30/12/2017 22:02

It’s all very well saying tampons are unhygienic and that we should all be using the moon cup. Some people physically can’t use them. A vaginal and uterine septum means I can’t use a mooncup even if I want to. Tampons are the only option for some people

meandmytinfoilhat · 30/12/2017 22:04

My period was too light to change it at every wee.

I tuck and dab after because it still gets pee on it.

JustDanceAddict · 30/12/2017 22:05

No I don’t!

MeadowHay · 30/12/2017 22:07

Yes I hold it out of the way. On the are occasion when I've forgotten it gets covered in piss so I have to change it there and then cos fuck walking about with the string full of absorbed piss in my undies.

RidingWindhorses · 30/12/2017 22:09

I change every time I pee.

twotired · 30/12/2017 22:10

It never even occurred to me to move it out of the way Blush

DreamyMcDreamy · 30/12/2017 22:11

Jeez, people really don't care what they over share on here, do they.
Got a mental image of some blokes sat agog reading like Shock Envy
or others with Vic and Bob style knee rubbing. Grin

Redsippycup · 30/12/2017 22:12

I find the string tucks itself out of the way (and then I have to go searching for it) but I am 'au natural' most of the time, I suspect a bald fanjo wouldn't be as helpful!

I couldn't change with every wee, taking it out too early is very uncomfortable - no?

I just fold a little loo roll and use that to hold the string when I pull it, just in case it is wet.

liminality · 30/12/2017 22:16

They don't even know what causes endometriosis so how can they possibly know that mooncups increase the risk???
I don't know why, but I much prefer to 'collect' with the mooncup rather than 'plug and soak' with a tampon.
When I use tampons however i tuck or pull to the side if I'm not changing it! It feels like it would be yuck to have a bit of urine dangling around, although in reality it cant be that much really.

JustAnIdiot · 30/12/2017 22:16

A long time since I've needed to use one, but I used to tuck the string up between inner & outer lips on one side (usually the right, as it happens), then it didn't get wet.

speakout · 30/12/2017 22:18

liminality- I am sure you know better.

Using a mooncup you far more knowledge than years of medical training.

speakout · 30/12/2017 22:19

This isn't a thread for mooncup users.

pasanda · 30/12/2017 22:21

Dreamy - lucky it's an anonymous forum isn't it.

GingerbreadMa · 30/12/2017 22:21

Neither! Dont people change them when they go for a wee???

DeStijl · 30/12/2017 22:26

Crikey, the things that get people into a tizz.
handbags tampons at dawn!

Blondielongie · 30/12/2017 22:26

Hold it to side.
(Also on the moon cup thing. I used one for 5 years pre-baby but since having a child I find it so uncomfortable to remove now so have gone back to tampons, even the larger size uncomfortable, it just stays stuck. I agree, mooncups are amazing, but not everyone can use them)

Salvadore · 30/12/2017 22:28

I think I need to get on board with my pelvic floor thanks dc , I change it every time I wee as it pretty much falls out on it’s own Blush I only wee about twice a day though.

FoggieFishieCarpeDiem · 30/12/2017 22:29

Don’t hold it. But I do change the tampon if it feels too full after peeing (which happens v often)...

I’ve never even thought about that. I use toilet paper (obviously) which also dries off the string, doesn’t it?

Moanaohnana · 30/12/2017 22:44

Can't use a mooncup since I had babies (have tried lots of different types as I'm v. v. sad about it as I loved my mooncup).

Tampons - I thought this happened to everyone but maybe it's just my physiology: when I wee, even if I hold the string out of the way the end of the tampon gets wet and of course soaks the wee upwards. If the string gets wet it soaks up into the tampon too. I can't bear the idea of walking around with a wee-soaked tampon inside me (and it makes it less effective anyway) so I change every wee. Vagina variations blow my mind.
