I am actually a complete idiot. This week I've managed to bin 3 iTunes vouchers to the value of £75 and my marriage certificate! I've been putting so much rubbish out and I think I binned them by accident with everything else. I'm so angry at myself. What stupid things have you all done like this? I just need to know I'm not alone in my idiocy!

Confession time as well. The iTunes vouchers were for the kids for Christmas. I looked for them until 2am on Christmas eve before realising I must have lifted them with all the excess wrapping paper the day before! They'd been in the pocket of my handbag quite happily for a month before that! I told the kids what I'd done but now I've been paid again do i buy them again for them? The marriage certificate is just a mystery. How long have you been married Eliza? I hope this isn't a bad omen!!!!

Oh not me my mum.

She was sorting her jewlery out and she has loads of it.

She has 1 big bag of exspensive jewlery my dad bought her I'm talking thousands of pounds over the years a huge diamond rind etc. (Dad has passed away)
And a bag of costume jewlery.

Sorted it all out. Realised weeks later she put the wrong bag in bin... thousands and thousands of pounds of beautiful rings necklaces earings etc.

She was devastated and hates talking about it now as she can't believe she did it.

My false tooth. I now have a missing tooth right next to my front one, no Christmas photos for me.

DryHeave · 30/12/2017 16:18

My iPhone. Luckily I noticed it was missing and used the “find my iPhone” programme and discovered it in the bin (to my horror).

Biffsboys · 30/12/2017 16:18

A pair of ray ban sunglasses when I was cleaning out the car .

stressedoutfred · 30/12/2017 16:19

Lost loads of things recently Sad. Think I binned DS’s Nintendo DS - the charger was broken but I think I binned the lot, DH has lost his wedding ring, and I’ve shoved 2 notes in my back pocket and they’ve slid out. Sod you new shiny £10!!!

MrsDilber · 30/12/2017 16:21

Exclusive tickets to a secret show of one of the most famous bands in the world, that I had to book plane tickets to get to. We still went and got in, but to this day, the tickets have not materialised.

BluebellTheDonkey · 30/12/2017 16:21

We once binned 100 Euros given by PILs as a present for our holidaySad Well, assumed they were binned as we never found them.

KitNCaboodle · 30/12/2017 16:27

My dad threw away his wallet whilst we were all on a family holiday in the US, many years ago. It contained all holiday cash and cards. He had to rummage through the hotel bins to find it and we laugh about it now...

I have previously thrown away my a passport. I think it was mine but might have been DH's. It was in a pile of papers mostly junk in an envelope and I just chucked the lot.

SideOrderofSprouts · 30/12/2017 16:38

My bil threw out a bag of Christmas presents that my fil has dropped there for us one Christmas

Dh accidentally threw away his wallet

BlueThesaurusRex · 30/12/2017 16:42

My engagement and wedding rings. I put them on a shelf in my bathroom when they got too tight (during pregnancy)

One day I realised they were gone... they were on a shelf above a bin and I can only assume that they were knocked in it and subsequently thrown away Sad

I feel sick thinking about it

FourEyesGood · 30/12/2017 16:43

DH lost his wedding ring yesterday. I found it in the paper recycling box. Phew!

BlueNeighbourhood1 · 30/12/2017 16:44

I bought a shirt from Jack Wills at full price and had a huge wardrobe clearout. I threw out what I thought was a shirt from Oasis I'd had for years and years - but it turns out it wasn't, it was the £60 Jack Wills shirt. I'm still gutted about it to this day, I have so many checked shirts from JW but can't find an exact copy of that one :(

Hippadippadation · 30/12/2017 16:46

I didn't bin it, but I once accidentally posted a cheque made out to me for spotting a stolen debit card when I was a cashier at Kwik Save with a load of other letters. I'd opened the envelope so it was just the cheque, no way of tracing it back to me. It was only about £50 but I was 17 and had plans for that money!

MynewnameisKy · 30/12/2017 16:50

My keys for the house, car, garage, mums house. Accidentally dropped them into the recycling bin. The recycling men put them back through the letter box.

Absolute legends!

TheNemesisOfLame · 30/12/2017 16:52

I think I gave an old ugly purse to charity -whilst it still contained £250 I was saving for some earrings.
And over the summer we were selling my mum's flat and I shredded all the documents from her aborted sale -fine -and all the current documents too - Land registry /lease for flat and garage. Oops

MassDebate · 30/12/2017 16:54

Pretty sure a £10 amazon voucher went out with the recycling this week 😫

WorldWideWanderer · 30/12/2017 16:55

Many years ago now, but we moved house and I threw away a bin bag which I thought was rubbish, but it had my son's GCSE notes in it as well as some cash. School were fantastic about the notes and helped out; cash was never recovered. I was so poor at the time, I had to go without to refund the cash.

A few years later I moved again. Lost my marriage and birth certificate...realised they were in a 'secret' drawer inside a wardrobe....I'd taken the wardrobe to the tip as it didn't fit the new house. Had to go to a solicitors to sort out copies of stuff....

Now I'm forever checking...there are only so many times you throw away important stuff before it sinks in not to make the same mistake again....

MsHopey · 30/12/2017 16:56

Last week my nan threw away £400 with old Christmas card envelopes.
I threw away limited edition collectable dress with old packaging after I received some parcels. Basically thought I had taken the dress out and hadn't :(

AcrossthePond55 · 30/12/2017 16:57

This thread has made me grab our 'Book of Mormon' tickets (gift from DS1, orchestra seats!) from my chair side table and run them upstairs to our safe.

They were in an Xmas card back in the envelope and I could just see myself picking the envelope, taking a quick peek, thinking 'Oh, a card' and tossing them out with the rest of the cards!

Thanks MN!!!

faintlinesquints · 30/12/2017 16:57

Lots here, money, gift cards, wedding certificate (got married abroad but luckily wasn't too difficult to order a replacement).
The worst though was 2 years ago, I was in hospital for a while and dh decided it was a good time to do some clearing out and sort through the girls toys. Not only did he throw away my vintage collection of toys I had since I was small, but he was putting toys to be donated on dds bed and when going to the charity he just scooped them up to put in a bin bag - and lifted dds baby shawl. A lovely family friend had knitted it when I was pregnant and died shortly afterwards, dd had slept with that blanket every single night for 13 years - I'm still gutted about that now!

pallisers · 30/12/2017 16:57

My first class tickets to Hong Kong. This was back in the 1990s when you got a paper ticket. I was going for work. I had to go through the entire bin to find them.

We think my mum threw out 1000 euro. She took it out of the bank and "hid" it in the house. even clearing the house after she died, we couldn't find it.

ShuttyTown · 30/12/2017 17:01

My DH and my driving licences 😭
