DS Desperately Seeking Cath Kidston flannel

Tenuous AIBU at best but ......

AIBU to ask you lovely lot to find a Cath Kidston flannel? Red and white spots.

DS has had 'flannel' since a baby, he took it everywhere and sleeps with it. It's now reduced to a shameless bundle of germs (see photo). It's now discontinued and intermittent trawls of eBay have so far been fruitless.
Current 'flannel' is on its last knockings and I'd love to find him a new/old/half of 'flannel's relative.
For context, DS is 9 and I know some people will say 'just let flannel die!' but DS has had to deal with quite a lot of loss in his 9
years (my parents (their very loved and doting GP's) died suddenly and unexpectedly, then his other, and last, grandmother died, our lovely dog got run over and died and then recently his doted on and cared for gerbils died).
He's a lovely, kind boy who has dealt with life's hurdles admirably and I just would like to get him a new (old) flannel, before this one gets lost (it's essentially a tiny rag) or just falls apart.
The flannel was red with white spots with a label in the corner. It doesn't mind on the condition if anyone has one lurking at the back of their airing cupboard or is cleaning the windows with it? I will happily buy it from you.

I've name changed for this but been here since DS was a baby - so ten old years!

I think Cath Kidston should be told too!

NorksAreMessy · 28/12/2017 20:09

I love MumsNet

Badbadtromance · 28/12/2017 20:11

How lovely. Made me cry. I still have my childhood comforter and sleep with it Evey night. Bless

rudolphslittlehelper · 28/12/2017 20:16

Oh Rudolph that's so kind of you but won't your son want to keep it?

he is 21- I don't think that he knows what a flannel is!

I will look through the drawers when I get home- I know the blue one is in there.

IronedPillowcase · 28/12/2017 20:17

I love it! Go mumsnet

CathKidstonFlannel · 28/12/2017 20:20

Nikki and Hedgehog I've sent DM's.

This thread has made me a bit teary. I posted in a 'well I might as well try' kind of way and now look what's happened, my lovely DS has 2 and possibly 3 new flannels. I can't eloquently explain how much it means to DS and me but to me, glass of wine down, this is the personification of kindness. And .... not one naysayer either on an AIBU 😁

HAPPY CHRISTMAS ALL YOU LOVELY PEOPLE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Rudolph and that you RudolphDS - I wonder if my DS will remember flannel when he's 21. I kind of think he will.

Sally and Hardasnails sorry I missed your earlier posts. If you don't mind parting with them they'd be lovely as back, back ups and yes cutting a towel into flannels is a good idea. I'm very happy to buy them from you though because it seems I've found a replacement from Hedgehog and Nikki and I don't want to be greedy and take the whole country's Cath Kidston Bath/kitchen ware.

Aw, this is so nice. MN has seemed so depressing the last couple of days with multiple threads about shit Christmas presents and horrible MILs but this is genuinely heart warming. What a lovely lot you are.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 28/12/2017 21:01

Just because it's WRONG to have a unanimous AIBU: YABVU, and entitled, and a CF to boot! Cancel the cheque, buy some naice ham and allow your in-laws to run rough-shod over all of your parenting principles! Grin

BusterGonad · 28/12/2017 21:10

Mumsnet at its best! Happy Christmas everyone! 🥂

Marley45 · 28/12/2017 21:22

Aww this is so lovely!!

CathKidstonFlannel · 28/12/2017 21:29

Hedgehog my parents and PIL are all dead. DC have no grandparents and this time of year is obviously a sore reminder to us but .... so as not to dwell on the sad you have given DS the gift of new flannel and he is absolutely delighted. He's mindful that old flannel is tiny and when I told him new flannel will be big and whole AND have the label he said "oh, I miss the label most because I used to hook my thumb in it". Honestly - it's made me cry. He did ask the name of the person from "Amusenet" who was sending flannel and I read out your whole user name without thinking - interesting 5 minutes about what 'buggered' mention. 😁
I would buy some naive ham but I'm a vegetarian, I did but tofu and Quorn ham today though. 😁
If o was really being a cheeky fucker I'd ask you all to find DD's lost fairy. And my lost late grandmother's eternity ring. A hat trick??

Thank you all so much and yes Bisquitine it has been depressing hasn't it, all those awful MIL stories. I'll be one one day, maybe.

ErnestHeminsway · 08/01/2018 00:09

Oh hedgehog that is exactly it! Thank you. Nikki kindly sent her wash mitt, which he absolutely loves but a whole new flannel would be the icing on the cake. Thank you.

ErnestHeminsway · 08/01/2018 00:10

Darn. Name change fail 😁. Never mind.

Dilligaf81 · 08/01/2018 00:20

I've found someone who was listing one on ebay. I've messaged them to see if they still have it as I can't see that it was sold.

ErnestHeminsway · 08/01/2018 00:26

Oh, Dilligaf81, that's lovely of you to do that, thank you. I couldn't find any on eBay, if it is still for sake I'd happily buy it if you could DM/post link. Thank you. DS will have enough flannels to see him through until his 30's. Smile

Snowysky20009 · 08/01/2018 01:02

I'll say it again 'the kindness of strangers' the world isn't always a bad place......
