DS Desperately Seeking Cath Kidston flannel

Tenuous AIBU at best but ......

AIBU to ask you lovely lot to find a Cath Kidston flannel? Red and white spots.

DS has had 'flannel' since a baby, he took it everywhere and sleeps with it. It's now reduced to a shameless bundle of germs (see photo). It's now discontinued and intermittent trawls of eBay have so far been fruitless.
Current 'flannel' is on its last knockings and I'd love to find him a new/old/half of 'flannel's relative.
For context, DS is 9 and I know some people will say 'just let flannel die!' but DS has had to deal with quite a lot of loss in his 9
years (my parents (their very loved and doting GP's) died suddenly and unexpectedly, then his other, and last, grandmother died, our lovely dog got run over and died and then recently his doted on and cared for gerbils died).
He's a lovely, kind boy who has dealt with life's hurdles admirably and I just would like to get him a new (old) flannel, before this one gets lost (it's essentially a tiny rag) or just falls apart.
The flannel was red with white spots with a label in the corner. It doesn't mind on the condition if anyone has one lurking at the back of their airing cupboard or is cleaning the windows with it? I will happily buy it from you.

I've name changed for this but been here since DS was a baby - so ten old years!

I've got one! Red with white spots, reverse on the other side? Label in the corner. Its a bit battered. If that's the one, I'll happily post it to you when I'm back home (6th Jan).

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 28/12/2017 19:35

*it's

CathKidstonFlannel · 28/12/2017 19:36

Shadow that's a good idea but he won't countenance the idea because - it's not flannel.

Knittedfairies - do you knit fairies? Yes, I should contact Cath Kidston, maybe they've got one in a cupboard.

Oh my goodness Hedgehog!!! Yes that's the one! Would you really? Oh that's so lovely thank you!!!

If it's any help I've got CK towel in th same pattern and colour you could cut up then you'll have lots of spares!

HardAsSnails · 28/12/2017 19:39

I've got a very tatty CK tea towel in the red spot which has the same label as the flannels. I'd be happy to post it if there's a chance it might be a potential substitute.

OP this is what I have - you're welcome to it if you PM me your address Smile

Maybe you could put the original one inside to infuse it with the smell?

I'd be delighted to help - PM me your address and it's yours.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 28/12/2017 19:41

And if NikkyNakky sends hers too you'll have a spare in case of loss/whatever.

CathKidstonFlannel · 28/12/2017 19:41

Hedgehog shall I DM you my address? Thank you!!!
I've just told DS that I may have found one and he says;
"Thank you very, very, very, very, very, very much!!! And 50 smiley faces".

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 28/12/2017 19:42

Mine's not the same as NikkyNakky's, it's a square rather than a mit - is that ok?

Rossigigi · 28/12/2017 19:43

I love mumsnet at the times! This is one of those threads that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling Smile

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 28/12/2017 19:43

Yes please do, I'm so pleased I can help! Your DS sounds v sweet.

CathKidstonFlannel · 28/12/2017 19:48

Hedgehog yours is exactly what I was looking for and is the same as what the disintegrated one was. Thank you.

Nikky would you mind is DS had your washmit too? Just in case?

I'm more than happy to send payment. Thank you both so much!!! I'll DM you both with my address. Thank you!!!What a lovely place Mumsnet is.

As an aside, when I told DS that I'd asked Mumsnet to help find a new/old flannel he said "where?" I said "you know, Mumsnet, that website I'm on sometimes" his reply
"Oh, I thought that was called Amusenet" 😁

Brightermornings · 28/12/2017 19:54

I agree lovely thread might still be worth getting in touch with cath kidston.

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 28/12/2017 19:54

Aw. Bless your Ds. And well done everyone

Nothing to add. Just such a lovely thread Flowers

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 28/12/2017 19:57

Amusenet! Grin

It'll be en route as soon as I get home, no need for payment. I'm thrilled I can finally help out on a MN search thread after so many years hanging around here!

CathKidstonFlannel · 28/12/2017 19:58

I can't work out how to send a DM - on mobile site? Can I not? I'll wind out the laptop. Thank you Hedgehog and Nikki. DS is dancing around very happy.

Mumsnet can be a funny old place sometimes but today it really has made the sun shine. A great testament to how much of a community it is sometimes and how many people will try and help when they can (I may have had a glass of wine and that may be why I'm a little bit gushing).

Thank you for making a 9 year old boy very happy. SmileSmileSmile

FoxyRoxyAroundTheChristmasTree · 28/12/2017 20:04

This is so lovely! I can't help but it reminds me of when I lived in Spain and a mnetter sent me colour photocopies of a Jamie Oliver pullout because I'd lost mine. Love this place and so pleased you found a flannel for your DS Xmas Smile

Knittedfairies · 28/12/2017 20:05

Isn’t that wonderful!

Rossigigi · 28/12/2017 20:06

Strangers helping strangers- now this is what Christmas spirit is all about! (And yes I've been on the wine Wink)
