Has anyone got a bargain in the post Christmas sales?

DH and I went for a drive out yesterday after four full on days of family and a hot hot house. Thought we'd go to a little shopping area with Next, Asda, Mothercare etc... as the kids need kitting out.

Braved Next and it was shocking. Absolutely nothing there. I don't know whether we were too late but I was surprised about the lack of decent sale items anywhere.

So has anyone managed to buy anything half decent?? And if so, where from?!

I've ordered a skagen watch - reduced to £72 from £149, new bras for dd1 (£12 each from brastop) dp got a superdry coat, dd2 got a big tub of flying saucers

EsmeeMerlin · 28/12/2017 19:01

I got some Christmas clothes for my ds(4) and my second son due in March from asda and Next. All half price and I will adore seeing the boys in matching Christmas jumpers next year.

I also got some maternity clothes, school shoes and baby clothes from the mothercare sale.

Oh and also some half price cards from Card factory.

Rossigigi · 28/12/2017 19:03

I bought 7 sets of smellies (which is a running joke in our family/ everyone gets one along with a 'properm present) and they were all down from £8 & £10 to £2 & £3. Put aside for next Christmas!

Chattymummyhere · 28/12/2017 19:06

Pre Christmas I brought a brand new 7ft Christmas tree for £20 fully decorated from a local shop. It was their display tree.

Went on new look Christmas Day with some vouchers and got over £150 of stuff for £70 including delivery just waiting for it to arrive now.

I got loads! Some beautiful outfits for my toddler and new born in Mothercare and m&s, and a gorgeous ted baker outfit in Debenhams that was half price. Got a few bits in next but wasn't impressed. Also tempted by a stunning dress coat for my almost 2 year old but it's 23 pound (half price!!!) But is stunning... might be a bit naughty and open his birthday cards (early Jan birthday) and use a bit of his money to get it

misscph1973 · 28/12/2017 19:35

The sales start so early, though, I got a Seasalt rain coat from John Lewis online reduced from £140 to £70, but that was on December 23, and by now they are all sold out.

harrietsoton · 28/12/2017 19:37

Fashion wise, topshop and Zara have SUCH a good selection - a lot of topshop’s recent bestsellers went into sale (sold out v quickly too!)

BumWad · 28/12/2017 19:37

A mini micro scooter for DS 3rd Birthday.

Used the 20% off Ebay offer today and then used £50 worth of nectar points so it cost us a whole £13 Smile

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 28/12/2017 19:43

This is a copy and paste from Curry's "Sale" on their website:

£799.00
Save £150.00
Was £949.00 (from 28/11/2017 to 29/11/2017)

... so it was £150 cheaper for one day ... bargain Confused.

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress · 28/12/2017 19:43

... I mean £150 more expensive!

Dowser · 28/12/2017 19:53

I got a smart tv from Amazon , £229 for a 39 inch.

Don’t think it was a particular bargain.

MaisyPops · 28/12/2017 19:56

ScreamingValentaMySantaExpress
That is exactly what wound me and DH up when we were looking for washing machines the other day.
It's not even a sale. It's just 'buy lots for christmas, then emails on christmas about you missing the sales, then go out and buy more'.

I think we are just going to order from John lewis when we are ready because they are consistently fair all year round on most things

Amanduh · 28/12/2017 19:58

Got some lovely bits in Boots, M&S and Jojomaman for dc but not reallt bargains - they were all half price of what I'd usually pay though so pretty good

harrietsoton · 28/12/2017 20:09

Not sure if anyone is interested but Tesco direct have very low prices on Nutribullets right now. They also have vouchers on electricals so you can save £5/£10/£20. I’m annoyed as I already have one!!

bertsdinner · 28/12/2017 20:10

I bought a small standard olive tree/bush for £4.50 in Morrison's, down from £12.00. Its bit dried out and looks sorry for itself, but I'm hoping it will revive.

thirstyformore · 28/12/2017 20:18

I went into our local River Island just after they'd marked loads of things down to £2 and £3. Got lots of dresses, tops etc for £35. Bargain!

Twitchingdog · 28/12/2017 20:37

Sport bra from simply be . Got big boobs and just started exercise so found the joy of sport bra . And they were cheaper along with some legging and sport top. In shop not so good missed the cheap knickers as I could not see them .

peanut2017 · 28/12/2017 20:45

Thecygnet would love to get another 20% off Kite. Anyone know how to PM through the app? Thanks a million

disneydatknee · 28/12/2017 20:51

Oasis sale is pretty good. I didn’t brave the shops though, bought online. I got a new winter coat £95 down to £48, new boots £70 down to £35 and a couple of nice tops I saw months ago which I loved but couldn’t justify paying fill price for. Next sales are not what they used to be, I don’t even bother with them anymore.

Teatreedelight · 28/12/2017 20:58

A Mulberry black clutch bag for £295 reduced from £495.

DotCottonDotCom · 28/12/2017 21:00

I got some bodysuits in the Superdry sale, but that’s about it!

Lellikelly26 · 28/12/2017 21:05

I got leather boots for my daughter from John Lewis for £17 and a lunch box for £6. I try not to go shopping for the sake of it now and just go for things I need. A lot of time online as well

RaspberryOverload · 28/12/2017 21:12

Mia Tui bags tend to be consistently and fairly priced, and I was chuffed to get one that I wanted in the sale, 50% off. I'd been looking at their website for ages umming and ahhing over the bags, saw this and ordered. It's a belated gift from the DCs.

Sales are nice, but I try to go for stuff that I need, and not just buy for the sake of it.

KiaOraAura · 28/12/2017 21:17

A half price duffel coat from Boden.

Catra · 28/12/2017 21:35

I bought a Cosatto Giggle 3-in-1 pushchair and pram with a car seat that I'd had my eye on for ages for £399, reduced from £664.

I also got some half price Bluebellgray bedding from John Lewis and some half price clothes from Fat Face and Monsoon.

All ordered online - no way am I braving the shops!
