AIBU to think SIL is a CF

I booked a home visit from Santa for today as a surprise for my children. My DB and SIL knew this. SIL and her little girl turned up five minutes before Santa was due to arrive. "Just thought it would be nice for [DN] to meet Santa as well. Is she a CF?

Did they book a santagram? That could go very awry with a mixed booking! Xmas Grin

I'm just gobsmacked at a home visit from Santa. OMG. How ridiculous is that!!!!! What utter utter nonsense!!! This is clearly one upmanship gone mad. And here's me worrying about how the other kids in the street might feel about me doing reindeer footprints up our drive!!!!!

Wilburissomepig · 27/12/2017 10:03

A home visit? Fucks sake I couldn't even get a home visit for MIL from the GP when she could barely move and you managed to get Santa?

TabbyMumz · 27/12/2017 10:04

Does a home visit from Santa not ruin the magic?! Kids see Santa's everywhere in the run up to Christmas (as in men dressed up), and know they aren't real, but like to imagine the real one comes to their home when they are asleep don't they? Surely if you have a dressed up Santa coming to your home, that ruins the magic?

sonjadog · 27/12/2017 10:04

What happens on a home visit from Santa?

MorrisZapp · 27/12/2017 10:07

We need much more information about the Santa home visit

TabbyMumz · 27/12/2017 10:09

I should imagine it's someone dressed up coming to your home, doing a lot of ho ho going and scaring the living daylights out of your child, then fleecing you for about £20?

LiquoricePickle · 27/12/2017 10:09

No extra info needed. Yes she's a CF and no YANBU

The chap who played Santa got details about my DC (school, friends, etc.) and what their main gifts were so that he could chat with them from a position of knowledge.
He chatted with them about their presents, read a story and sang some carols. Of course, he had no background for DN but he worked round it. He was lovely about the extra people and made no fuss and didn't charge any extra. I do regret not inviting DN but had intended the visit just for my DC.

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to do something with only your immediate family. Not everything has to include everybody. Even Santa visits!

TabbyMumz · 29/12/2017 10:45

How on earth did he get details about your child from school?! They absolutely would not be allowed to give details to a random person. (Unless you gave him the details and I've read this wrong)?. I still think it's a crazy idea and over the top thing to do.

Ellisandra · 29/12/2017 10:50

Not from school - about school.
From the OP.

This is Christmas gone slightly OTT. Like previous posters have said, this exposure is going to mean children will probably realise the truth about Santa much sooner than the previous generation.
