To be annoyed that they didn't open the playgrounds in Regents Park today

Went into Regents Park for a walk and thought we'd give DS a good go on the adventure playground there...only to find it padlocked shut Angry

It's not exactly a local park either. And I forgot to bring his balance bike / scooter so was relying on the playground.

Why, when they bother to open the parks, would they not open the playgrounds? Aren't we meant to be encouraging our kids to play outside? To close the playground is not really in the spirit of promoting outdoor play

Because they're keeping their staff use to a minimum so their poorly paid staff can spend Christmas with their families?

Terribly sorry the entertainment wasn't up to scratch for your little darling. Did you have to do something dreadful like talk to them?

sparechange · 25/12/2017 21:11

Seriously? Hmm

I think it's so the park keepers could spend the day with their loved ones.

He could play outside - the park was open. Just not the adventure playground. No one's being deprived of outdoor play.

Wolfiefan · 25/12/2017 21:13

Because one simply can't get the staff nowadays. Hmm

oliveinacampervan · 25/12/2017 21:14

Jeeeeeeez entitled much?

How about spending time in your home?

Weezol · 25/12/2017 21:14

Really? This has to be a journalist looking to manufacture a story. If it's not, I am lost for words.

Fffion · 25/12/2017 21:14

It’s a public holiday.

Littlelambpeep · 25/12/2017 21:14

Ridiculous op. It is Christmas day !!!

Anasnake · 25/12/2017 21:14

This can't be serious...

x2boys · 25/12/2017 21:15

its Christmas day ffs!

Sparklesocks · 25/12/2017 21:15

Idk maybe because it’s literally xmas day??

ZoeWashburne · 25/12/2017 21:15

It’s a park. Have you not thought about playing tag, pretend games, have a run about? Whilst it’s annoying the playground is shut, Regent’s Park has loads of space for run arounds, lakes, bridges etc for playing.

Use your imagination!

agedknees · 25/12/2017 21:16

Get a life fgs.

Sparklingbrook · 25/12/2017 21:16

I bet the zoo was closed too. How inconsiderate.

Andrewofgg · 25/12/2017 21:17

See the threads about shops being open tomorrow. Nobody there is suggesting they should be open today too. Come off it.

TheSameCoin · 25/12/2017 21:18

Oh don’t be ridiculous.

Bumbelinadance · 25/12/2017 21:18

I know the playground you mean op .
It doesn't require " staffing " . Playgrounds don't need staff .

No reason to lock it up on Christmas Day
Maybe it needs to be unlocked in the morning and again at night though .

I have taken my dc to playgrounds on Christmas Day before .

StickThatInYourPipe · 25/12/2017 21:18

What selfish pricks the staff are for wanting to spend Christmas Day with their families! I’m shocked!

LaurieFairyCake · 25/12/2017 21:20

Is Regent's Park a park that has to be 'opened'?

I was in Greenwich Park today with hundreds of others and that's a park that has to be opened as there's big gates. So clearly the (lovely) park keepers were on duty.

Is Regent's Park the same - and if so why wouldn't they open the playground if they were opening the other gates Confused

megletthesecond · 25/12/2017 21:22

It is usually staffed? I wouldn't expect a free playground to be locked either. We don't have any fancy ones around here though.

But if it requires staff during opening hours then fair enough that they should have the day off.

MidniteScribbler · 25/12/2017 21:25

Better sue someone OP. Your child is obviously going to be scarred for life because they couldn't play on a playground. Perhaps you should sue as well for the infliction of emotional distress of having to actually interact with your offspring.
