Taking the tree down!

Elsouth · 25/12/2017 19:28

Is it wrong to consider taking the tree down tomorrow? When is everyone else doing it?? I think last year I did it just after Boxing Day. As the kids get older the presents seem to get bigger and I end up having to rearrange the whole room. Need that tree gone. Does that make me a grinch?

It amazes me that people can't accept others so things differently

PasstheStarmix · 28/12/2017 08:34

do

PasstheStarmix · 28/12/2017 08:38

If it was up to me there’d be a law against taking your tree down before 12th night. All that Christmastime celebration going to waste!

Julie are you on the wine again? Surely you can accept others do things differently? For some their decorations have been up since the 1st of December so they've had a whole month of celebrating. Just because you like to celebrate only during the 12 days doesn't mean everybody does!

ScribblyGum · 28/12/2017 08:38

We celebrate 12th night (5th Jan) so everything has to be down before sunset. I will probably start taking things away in dribs and drabs from the 2nd and leave the tree until last and do that on the morning of the 5th. The only thing that stays out is the playmobil nativity so the three kings can actually get to Jesus to give him their gifts.

I’m totally enslaved to the retail world. As soon as the last mouthful of turkey is consumed, that’s it... I tear down the tree and rid the house of any vestige of Christmas. The evening of the 25th is all about preparing for the sales, gorging on adverts and traveling through websites whilst we plan our day to precision. Always a very early start on the 26th as we drive to our chosen shops! And obvs my thoughts are now on Easter. I finished my egg shopping yesterday! I love Easter with all it’s chicks and bunnies :)

coconuttella · 28/12/2017 08:49

The kids used to cry and wail when I ripped down the tinsel, but they’re now old enough to get the excitement of the DFS sale!

Juliesaway doesn’t understand that other people celebrate Christmas differently from her and she believes that her way is the right way!

Minxmumma · 28/12/2017 09:40

Ours are all coming down today. As much as I love the trees and decorations I long for my tidy house back

magratvonlipwig · 28/12/2017 09:46

New years day. Its a nice sparkly thing for new years eve but after that its just a big reminder that its all over and ive got to go back to work...

thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts · 28/12/2017 09:51

Still in full Christmas mode here as the tree only goes up a few days before Christmas and not in November. It will probably come down before 12th night but not much before. The crib in church stays up till Candlemas which is 2nd Feb.

LordSugarWillSeeYouNow · 28/12/2017 10:07

I give up! Mine is coming down today, I need the space ( not majorly but that's my excuse ) I've had enough of it.

I hate this in between Christmas and New Year part, feels like limbo :)

Kathsmum · 28/12/2017 11:06

January birthdays here so I need to make a distinction between the two. It’s def going by new year at latest.

Imabadmummy · 28/12/2017 11:08

My son actually suggested taking the tree down on boxing day - he's 6 - but I couldn't be bothered.
Was gonna do it today.....but still cant be bothered 😂
At this rate it could still be up in March.

Might try and muster up the umph and do it this aft.

nornironlady · 28/12/2017 11:09

I'm back to work today. If I was at home then the tree would be coming down. Quite a few in work have theirs down already knowing they will not have time to do this once back to work. When it's over, it's over!

xxnamechangexx · 28/12/2017 11:12

I've always done the 12th night but I have to confess this year I am itching to take it down and reclaim my house.

I'll leave it up till at least the 2nd though even if I do break early and it went up on the 11th - only so early due to DS pleading with me

PasstheStarmix · 28/12/2017 11:20

Just because people take their decorations down before new year doesn't mean they put it up in November as a lot of posters suggest. We put ours up first weekend in December.

MsGameandWatching · 28/12/2017 11:22

Mine goes up on the first of December and down on 5th January. I love my Christmas decs Smile

SnowannaRainbow · 28/12/2017 14:03

Mine came down today, I spent all morning doing the big post Christmas clean up and I feel better now its not hanging over me.

BuzzKillington · 28/12/2017 14:07

12th night is just too long.

New Year's Day here - feels cleansing.

StolenPumpkins · 28/12/2017 14:10

Mine came down on Boxing Day this year, normally comes down on 27th, I like to just get rid of the clutter and tidy up, it's what I've always done.

MsHarry · 28/12/2017 15:13

New years day or 2nd Jan for me but we don't put it up until 15th ish Dec.

ForalltheSaints · 28/12/2017 16:12

Your choice, not that I would take it down until 12th night or perhaps the day before.

Lovemusic33 · 28/12/2017 16:16

Took mine down today, house looks so much bigger and cleaner Grin

LEMtheoriginal · 28/12/2017 16:53

Someone just posted on my Facebook that they take theirs down when they eat the last quality street!
