Fucking Daily Mail AngryAngryAngry So shit how they lift people's threads. Lazy journalism at its finest.

OP posts:

crunchy Not as thick as someone who needs to resort to insults to emphatically express a point. Hmm

I may agree with you OP 😉

At the risk of being reported as a TAAT I'm going to bring up something that bothers me about this issue. I hope no one does that because I think it is important and have no sinister intent. But you never know...

A little while ago someone posted about an excessively heavy period. Many people urged her to go to A&E. She eventually did and it turned out to be a life-threatening condition that was averted by medical intervention. Cue back-slaps all round to the power of Mumsnet.

The Daily Mirror picked up the thread and reported it in the spirit of 'isn't this great? Woman's life saved by the women of Mumsnet. BTW here are the danger signs of bleeding to look out for.'

There was outrage on the thread and it was pulled from MN, though I don't see how the OP could have been identified. And even if she was I can't see what harm could have been done.

It seemed churlish to me. Like: 'We can talk about this on MN but we don't want Daily Mirror readers to benefit from this knowledge.' Why would you not want to help people?

The upshot is that the valuable information about what to do in the event of dramatic and prolonged menstrual bleeding is no longer searchable on this site - a site that is supposed to be a resource for women - but you can find it if you search the Mirror one.
