How many loads of laundry do you do a week?

What's normal? I feel like I never stop! Once I've done the weeks laundry, and finally sorted it all out, I then have to start it all over again!

Some of these amounts are quite frankly ridiculous!

4 in our household and we have 2-3 loads

megletthesecond · 24/12/2017 12:22

I don't leave muddy / sweaty gym and running clothes in the laundry basket made that mistake a few times so they're washed the same day on a quick wash. Same goes for swimming kit. Those alone add 3-5 loads a week.

JingsMahBucket · 24/12/2017 12:31

@SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower LOL. I love fake numbers.

LakieLady · 24/12/2017 12:41

Two adults, generally 3-4 loads pw. Two of darks, one of lights/whites, sometimes a 4th if there's so much that bedding/towels need to be a load of their own.

About once a month, I'll do a 5th load, which is doormats, dog towels and dog bedding. Thankfully, someone told the dog that terriers are earth dogs, not water dogs. She only goes in water on hot days and doesn't even like going out in heavy rain. I use microfibre cleaning cloths on her muddy legs and paws, they work a treat and I just rinse them out under the tap and dry them on the radiator.

Mistoffelees · 24/12/2017 12:43

will how do you manage to dry it in a day? I have mountains of washing at the minute because one load takes about 3 days to dry properly on the airer unless I have the heating on constantly

WindyWindy · 24/12/2017 12:47

Family varies between 4 and 5. No muddy hobbies. Between 5 and 7 loads per week in a normal sized machine. I could consolidate more if I concentrated.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 24/12/2017 12:57

About 20-25 I guess. Never less than 3 a day. 6 of us, one baby.

JustBeingJobless · 24/12/2017 13:00

There should me, ds (11), and a dog and my washer is on pretty much every day, more in this weather as have to change trousers after dog walking and dry dog off with her towel, so they have to go in the wash. It’s never ending!

userofthiswebsite · 24/12/2017 13:04

6 loads - just me here...

1 x bedding
3 x darks including gym hear
2 x lights including bath/hand towels

VeraVinegarTits · 24/12/2017 13:06

I usually do 2 loads a day, sometimes 3. Family of four.

Mistoflles

Asking how people dry their clothes on the airer in a day?

By using a dehimidifier that comes with a special laundry mode and sticking it in front of the airer. You can get a good one ( I have the EcoAir Simple something something) and it was about £100-125. I can't dry outside as I'm third floor flat with no garden.

If I put a load on there at say 9pm when I get up for work it'll usually be dry.

Mistoffelees · 24/12/2017 13:39

user I didn't know such a thing existed!! Definitely an investment for the new year!

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/12/2017 13:41

3-4 a day, but there are nine of us including three messy toddlers.

amusedbush · 24/12/2017 13:53

Two adults, no kids. Two loads a week, maximum.

Eatingwormswithwine · 24/12/2017 13:55

Thousands! Gin

NotAChristmasCakePop · 24/12/2017 13:57

One a day at least.

elliejjtiny · 24/12/2017 13:59

3 or 4 loads a day usually. 2 adults and 5 DC aged between 11 and 3.

Longdistance · 24/12/2017 14:00

I do laundry twice a week. 3 loads one day, 4/5 another which includes towels and bedding. I have an 8kg machine, so can pack it in well.

Me, dh, dds 6 and 8. We both wear office clothes, dds uniform.

Sleepyblueocean · 24/12/2017 14:04

10 -12 a week and a couple of spin only hand-washs. Two adults and one very messy child still in nappies and resultant leakages.

nippey · 24/12/2017 14:04

A load every weekday evening and a couple a day on the weekends, there are only 3 of us as well!

SciFiFan2015 · 24/12/2017 14:05

Average of 4 loads per week. Family of 4. No tumble dryer. I try and live a green life so cutting down on amount of washing is one way towards that. I also make my own washing powder!

TurquoiseDress · 24/12/2017 14:06

As few as possible Grin

Montsti · 24/12/2017 14:13

3 x clothes washes - usually mixed as I use a colour collector. Hand wash any dodgy looking colours for the first few washes...

2 x bedding/towels

So 5 loads a week. Family of 6...we do have a large 12kg eco washing machine though so I can fit a lot in at once!

Montsti · 24/12/2017 14:14

We rarely use our tumble dryer but we live abroad where the climate is better...

Montsti · 24/12/2017 14:15

4 dc are 8, 5, 3 & 12 weeks...
