How many loads of laundry do you do a week?

What's normal? I feel like I never stop! Once I've done the weeks laundry, and finally sorted it all out, I then have to start it all over again!

Too many.

Minxmumma · 24/12/2017 11:16

An average of 2 a day. 2 adults 4 children. One child and DH both work in messy environments so hers is a full extra load twice a week on it's own. Feel like Widow Twanky most weeks but on the upside I don't iron, himself does ours and the baby's and the kids do their own mostly.

kmc1111 · 24/12/2017 11:18
  1. That's for 2 adults. 1 of towels, one of bedding, one of clothes. Would be more but a lot of our clothes go to the dry cleaners.

When the DC were still at home it was more like 8-10. This week it'll probably be something insane like 15 what with them and their partners and a few friends staying.

Falconhoof1 · 24/12/2017 11:19

If DH is playing football twice a week then loads. He wears so much stuff playing football! I had no idea until I met him that it didn't just mean football strip and a towel. He wears about 3 layers plus protection stuff. And he often brings the whole team's strip home. He washes them but it takes up the whole clothes dryer. I can't wait until he's too old to play 😋

TheTasteOfInk · 24/12/2017 11:22

Probably at least 15 a week.

Wilburissomepig · 24/12/2017 11:24

Family of 4 and a big dog.

1-2 daily and about two extra loads a week for the dogs towels when he's used them all up. (For clarity, we live rurally and he's always in ditches and rivers etc., it's not that he takes himself off for a shower every day).

Whitelisbon · 24/12/2017 11:34

2 adults, 5 kids.
2 a day tends to keep on top of it.
If I miss a day or two it can take me a week to catch up, I seem to spend a large proportion of my life dealing with laundry. Nothing gets ironed except dd1s school shirts and cadet uniform, and she does them herself.

HicDraconis · 24/12/2017 11:38

None at all. Haven’t done any washing since DH moved in 13 years ago :-)

OddestSock · 24/12/2017 11:38

About one a day. We’re 2 adults & 2 children.

kaytee87 · 24/12/2017 11:39

@HicDraconis I assume op means collective 'you'

Floellabumbags · 24/12/2017 11:39

2-3 per day.

I'm stuffed at the moment, DS had the noro and there's a backlog what with washing duvets, pillows, bedding, towels, soft toys ....

billybagpuss · 24/12/2017 11:42

I had a hissy fit in about April (all my kids are older) and basically said I’m not doing it anymore. So 1 or 2 and our bedding for DH and I and I shudder to think when the dc’s last did their bedding. I’ve been so much happier since then. They now also ask occasionally if I can help then, so I no longer have ownership 😊

StickThatInYourPipe · 24/12/2017 11:42

Fucking loads and there’s only me and dp! It’s so often it now feels weird when I can’t hear the buzz from the machine Grin

thethoughtfox · 24/12/2017 11:45

There's only 3 of us. At least one a day.

chibsortig · 24/12/2017 11:52

Its never ending im sure i do the entire estates :/ there are 6 of us so at least two loads a day ive done 3 so far today and will do two more later when these get in their pjs.
I refuse to wash xmas day unless the kids are ill and the washer doesnt go on new years day either.

AFistfulOfDolores · 24/12/2017 11:53

About 8 - 10 loads per week. Sometimes more. I am scrupulous about washing whites separately, and then, because of our cheap washing machine that doesn't balance well, any time there is a 'heavy' wash (i.e. towels, bath mats, etc.) I have to limit the load to about three items.

Amanduh · 24/12/2017 11:56

3/4 a week and I thought that was a lot then I read this thread 😂

wolfmom · 24/12/2017 11:57

It's only me and teen daughter so 4 maybe 5 a week. Dark, lights, whites, towels and bedding. Some weeks we don't need a whites wash as neither of us wear much white

megletthesecond · 24/12/2017 11:58

Me and 2 primary age dc's.

At least two loads a day.

SheRaaarghPrincessOfPower · 24/12/2017 11:58

Twelvety

Bambamber · 24/12/2017 11:59

I do 3 loads a week. 1 dark, 1 light,1 towels and bedding. That's for 2 adults and 1 infant

EmilyChambers79 · 24/12/2017 12:00

I used to do whites, lights, colour and dark, two loads of each a week. Then I discovered colour catcher sheets. Now it's three loads a week.

Bedding, towels, bath mat, oven gloves, tea towels every two weeks.

Praisebe · 24/12/2017 12:01

5-6 a week 2 adults and 1 dog who has a bedwetting issue so his bedding is washed constantly. I have 2 laundry hampers plus a basket for clean and they are all constantly full.
New years resolution is capsule wardrobes before we go insane as for Ddog hopefully the vet can figure out why he's wetting in his sleep Hmm

OhWhatToChoose · 24/12/2017 12:05

2 adults no kids and we do two loads of clothes, one of underwear/towels and one bedding a week, unless I'm feeling lazy and then the towels and bedding sit in the basket until I can be bothered as we have multiple sets of things!

We both work full time and have just switched from separate washer dryer to a combo machine as our garage will be knocked down in Feb and we'll lose the space for the dryer!

MsVestibule · 24/12/2017 12:11

I honestly don't know how people with an average sized family wash three loads A DAY!! There are four of us and I only put the washing machine on about three times a week. We are a bit scruffy compared to others (we wear tops for two days, don't wash towels after every shower and don't wash the bedding weekly) but I still can't imagine how I could multiply the amount of washing I do by 7.
