Aibu to feel slightly offended by this. I DO have a bus pass because i have recently become a pensioner. I really didn't think i looked that old though, especially today, was dressed trendy, had taken time with hair and makeup. But when i got on the bus, had to have a little run to get it, bus driver smiled and said, "you should have your bus pass ready" when i got my purse out. I mean, what if i wasn't a pensioner, surely he shouldn't just presume? What do you all think. Feel really old now. Sad

Pickachew was probably refering to the vocabulary choice best things - I'm sure you look great, but I'm pretty sure that however "on trend" someone's style choices are, nobody under 60 uses the word trendy - I'm in my 40s and it's a word my mum uses... Wink

Our vocabulary probably dates us more than anything - I'm sure mine dates me to those closer to 30, or younger. I don't care though, might as well own it and be ourselves. I hate it when my peers try to talk like 20 somethings - I can stomach "I'm excited for Christmas" from someone young enough theoretically to be my child, but it sets my teeth on age when old school friends talk in a way that suggests they've just dropped out of an American reality TV show...

I'm the opposite people think my grandson is my son.

Last time I was on a bus (November) I think I was the only person paying cash for my fare - everyone else seemed to have a pass of some description, young or old!

I realise now that iwbu, typical me, looking far too much into some innocent remark, that normal people wouldn't give a second thought to. Thanks all. Smile

Think about it: half the people have to look older than they are.
If you don't believe me, look up the word "median"

The whole being mistaken for grandparent when you're a parent or parent when you're a grandparent thing surely depends 95% on the demographic where you live, and is nothing personal.

In some areas its more common to have your first baby at nearer 20, in other areas nearer 40... When I had my first at 30 I was the second youngest in my very large NHS antenatal classes, with three women of 40-43 and nobody under 28,, butfriend who had her first at 25 in a different part of the country was the oldest at her antenatal classes.
