Risk food poisoning to placate DH?

SIL has terrible food practices. She's always got the runs but claims it's got nothing at all to do with the fact she leets her dog lick her tongue after he's just licked dog shit off his own arse. She doesn't follow standard food hygiene practices either, like refrigerating roasts between servings.

We've arrived at hers and there's a bag of chicken dippers on the side, partially defrosted FOR COOKING. I've told DH to go out and buy us some lunch but he's insisting we have to eat what she's offering. I've told him that I don't want diahorrea and cramps for Christmas. I've told SIL a million times before that when chicken defrosts the outside defrosts first and the inside remains frozen longer. When cooking the defrosted outside cooks but the inside is still frozen/uncooked. AIBU saying we don't want to risk it?

Chicken dippers are normally cooked from frozen anyway.

15 minutes on the oven and they'll be fine.

The tongue thing is revolting though.

CheekyFuckersAreEntertaining · 22/12/2017 13:25

We are currently arguing.

He also got pissy about the time SIL had eaten crisps allowing her dog to lick the flavour off her fingers between handfuls (which she also licked) and when she asked to try my crisps I told her (very politely) no problem but she could either wash her hands first or I'd pass her some.

Aren't things like bags of chicken dippers usually cooked from frozen?

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/12/2017 13:27

Chicken dippers are normally designed to reheat from frozen and are fully cooked anyway, the cooking is just because they're nicer hot and crispy.

HolyMountain · 22/12/2017 13:28

She isn't hosting Christmas lunch is she?

0nTheEdge · 22/12/2017 13:29

Time to announce you're on a meat free health kick until Christmas?
On a more serious note, I'd probably say something along the lines of having a very sensitive stomach and could I have some toast instead.

PinkHeart5914 · 22/12/2017 13:29

Ewwwwww why do you arrange to eat at this woman's house? I’m afraid it would be her meeting us for lunch out or I would be taking lunch for everyone when we visited!

The chicken dippers will be fine to cook but someone that eats the dog lick their tongue is not ever cooking for me ever

Merryoldgoat · 22/12/2017 13:30

Dippers normally cooked from frozen so not really concerned about that.

The dog licking stuff is utterly vile. I'd not be eating there.

CheekyFuckersAreEntertaining · 22/12/2017 13:30

I don't mind eating dippers cooked from frozen. I don't mind them cooked from defrosted. I don't want them burned on the outside in order for them to be safely cooked inside or worse, nicely browned and still cold inside.

Cheby · 22/12/2017 13:33

YANBU. That sounds utterly grim.

Oblomov17 · 22/12/2017 13:34

YABU - Your last comment about the way chicken dippers cook, is not correct. They will be fine.
The rest of her habits are vile.

twiney · 22/12/2017 13:34

Relax

CheekyFuckersAreEntertaining · 22/12/2017 13:38

Ha ha! I just told her now that she need to cook them for a long time because for some reason they were left out and I don't want the shits for Christmas due to their partially defrosted state. She said, "No they're fine like that!" So I explained that the outside will cook first obviously and we'll be risking food poisoning. She looked at me opened mouthed.

OP posts:
CrackersForlt · 22/12/2017 13:40

If she cooks them per the instructions, they will be fine. That's fine right for the middle to cook through when everything is frozen. You don't need to double up the time or anything daft like that.

Tinselistacky · 22/12/2017 13:44

My ex mil always cooked sausages half frozen, poor fil often had food poisoning and she would herself refer back to the sausages and announce she knew she hadn't cooked them properly. Then same again next time!! Poor bloke -

reallyanotherone · 22/12/2017 13:48

Refrigerating roasts between servings?

Mine sits on the table until dinner is finished. Then it will sit on the side until i’ve cleared up and decided whether to freeze it or fridge for tomorrow.

Nobody has had food poisoning from my cooking. I reheat rice too.

I’m a microbiologist btw.

CheekyFuckersAreEntertaining · 22/12/2017 13:49

@reallyanotherone I'm talking the day after and longer. Apologies if that was unclear.

Rossigigi · 22/12/2017 13:51

No she's doesn't need to cook them for a long time- where in the world are you getting that idea from?

They will be absolutely fine chucked in the oven for 15 mins, even less as they are partially defrosted. As long as they are hot in the centre they are good to eat.

The dog licking is horrid though.

reallyanotherone · 22/12/2017 13:52

i’d be more concerned that chicken dippers are utterly disgusting and barely meet the description of food.

You won’t get poisoning. However i don’t see the point of defrosting them when they can be cooked from frozen.

If you chop into one and it’s uncooked inside you may have a point. Otherwise you’ll be fine. That’s usually how i decide whether chicken is cooked properly...

daisypond · 22/12/2017 13:52

The dog thing is gross. But the chicken dippers will be fine. Who on earth refrigerates a roast between servings?

Lovemusic33 · 22/12/2017 13:54

I’m sure it will be fine, she probably gets ill from letting the dog lick her after it’s been licking it’s ass not from cooking frozen chicken nuggets. I have eaten at some pretty awful places (relatives houses) and have never been ill.

froshiechipandbrickie · 22/12/2017 13:56

I don’t know that chicken dipper are, but seeing as other posters are saying that this wouldn’t be a problem....

I probably couldn’t stomach eating at her house. Letting her dog lick her tongue / finger is absolutely horrible and disgusting imo.

And I’d be rather upset if DH didn’t support me in this decision, tbh.

froshiechipandbrickie · 22/12/2017 13:57

*what chicken dippers are...

CheekyFuckersAreEntertaining · 22/12/2017 13:58

@daisypond my post was unclear, I meant serving the next day and later for the roasts. My own will sit out on the table and in the kitchen for dinners, but overnight it definitely goes in the fridge instead of back in the oven or left on he side to be taken out the next day for lunch.

LesDennishair · 22/12/2017 14:00

My god! You must be joking! At the risk of sounding hysterical I wouldn't eat or drink anything from there at all. I'd be thinking of an excuse. No you are not being unreasonable,
