"Just a gentle reminder" by someone with absolutely no authority to challenge the way somebody is speaking. In threads where someone will pipe up with having a problem with how someone refers to something. Like 'just a gentle reminder that 'fuckboy' originated as a term used for male rape victims in prison so please don't use it, thanks!' (Recent example from captain awkward). Always comes across really passive aggressive.

bestthings · 20/12/2017 16:39

"I'm good," instead of "I'm fine."
"And yeah," usually said when can't think what to say .

Emlou07 · 20/12/2017 16:40

'Blessed'

'Going to boobie X to sleep'

'Moist'

LemonShark · 20/12/2017 16:40

Argh to 'lean in' I've read the synopsis of sandberg's book and I still don't have a clue what it's referring to or referencing, lean into what? What does leaning mean? Why? Why are you leaning away? From what? Would love some light to be shed here!

LemonShark · 20/12/2017 16:42

Omg yes the 'so I turned around and said, then he turned round and said', why are people trying to have a conversation while spinning wildly on the spot 😂

"Man up" I really hate to hear this, implying that only men are tough (and should always behave so). I have a female colleague (we work in a school) who purports to be a feminist and she says it to kids of both sexes all the time.

QueenAmongstMen · 20/12/2017 16:43

"Getting your ducks in a row"

I see it here all the time and it really grates on me....I know what the posters mean but what has preparing to leave someone got to do with ducks?!

Sarahh2014 · 20/12/2017 16:44

Pump to describe a shoe
Juice to describe dilute cordial

stilltheykeepcoming · 20/12/2017 16:46

"Two thousand seventeen"

NOOOOO!!!! I know the Americans do this, but I heard it on a British tv ad yesterday.

It's two thousand AND seventeen ffs.

LemonShark · 20/12/2017 16:46

When people say 'can I lend a pen' to mean they want to acquire a pen from someone else or 'I borrowed her a pen' RAGEEEEEEE

Sealsarewaterdogs · 20/12/2017 16:47

When people refer to baby/toddler boys as "sexy", "sexy lil man" cringe.

-Find this one enraging: when someone's life has been saved by surgeons/doctors/modern medicine and people say "God/Jesus/Magic sky Dad did this, he saved them!"

Also cringe when I hear the words "ponce", "Moolah", "Naahh", "babez", and the phrase: "You're my king, I'm your queen".

RedDogsBeg · 20/12/2017 16:47

As seen on MN:

Veggies and describing someone who is vegetarian as a Veggie.
Any word that has had the ending replaced with ies, e.g. choccies
Naice
Posh nosh or posh anything like a 'box of posh chocs'
Mama Bear/Tiger Mum and the ensuing 'protect your cubs' shit
Picky tea/bits sounds revolting and not the least appetising
Are you on glue?
'poos' on the end of unrelated word - drinkipoos
Wine 'o' clock

Generally:

Pressing the flesh
Moist
Low hanging fruit
