...to think this perfume advert sets a terrible example?

The advert for Miss Dior with Nathalie Portman (I think) really irritates me, and for more than the usual reasons of it being just generally perfume-ad daft. It portrays a young woman in a "passionate" relationship, which appears to involve yelling at each other, shoving, and sobbing hysterically on public transport. At the end, she snarls at the camera "What would YOU do for love?" and I just think "Woah, calm down there- I'm probably just going to make him a brew when he gets in and we'll watch The Chase."

AIBU to think that it's probably not a great message to send about about what love should look like?

We don’t have a tv, but I’ve just watched it on YouTube. She’s a snarky bloody thing at the end isn’t she? Hmm

Pretension, ze new fragrance by Calvin Klein

I do like the Chanel L'eau one - it's a nice little tribute by Lily-Rose Depp to her mother.

Alfagirl... I literally just watched that one and in light of reading this thread earlier though "oh this one is OK!"

The women behind the glass fainting at the mere sight of attractive man advert infuriates me
I thought they only fainted just as he dropped his keks.
To be fair, we can't see what they can see Grin

The other one that bothers me is the one where all the women in floaty dresses are laying around sweating in a conservatory and then go swimming in a pond.

They are going to smell of polyester BO and pond water 🤢

Hate it OP! Such a terrible representation of what love “should”. In fact i think I was moaning about the same advert on another thread the other day.

Natalie Portman is a married woman in her mid-30s with two children and a degree from Harvard.

That she is still "Miss Dior" and all that implies is a testament to her acting skills.

And yes, perfume adverts are always stupid.

Can't they just try to tell us what the thing SMELLS of?
