To think that THIS is not a Christmas tree?

Absolutely hating this trend. It just doesn’t give me that warm, fuzzy festive feeling at all. My friend has a similar tree and I know this makes me sad & pathetic but for some reason it’s really grating on me 😆 AIBU?

It is very pretty & I like it, but agree entirely - it is certainly not a proper tree!

I'd have one of those in my porch if I had one or conservatory if I had one meanwhile the proper tree in all it's piney glory would be oozing with breakable red, green & gold glass ornaments in the lounge.

It's nice! But not as a Christmas tree!

ArtyKitty · 14/12/2017 22:27

Excellent! I shall hereby refer to my festive twig and none shall mock my inferior foliage. Thank loveactuallyoctopus. (8 IS a lot of legs.)

RestingGrinchFace · 14/12/2017 22:27

YANBU! This just makes me sad.

I think it's beautiful. I never think proper Christmas trees look particularly nice.

MimsyFluff · 14/12/2017 22:37

Think of the children that tree is naked FGS NAKED

MiddlingMum · 14/12/2017 22:38

I like them, and I've never been known for my modern or minimalist tastes.

JoJoSM2 · 14/12/2017 22:41

Looks dead and grim yo me. I might change prefer lush green trees given the miserable weather outside.

Namesarehard · 14/12/2017 22:45

We bought a very similar looking tree about 3 years ago as a second tree. We put it in our dinning room. I loved it so much it's still there. I never took it down and is switched on all year round. I wouldn't have it as my main Christmas tree though.

MonumentalAlabaster · 14/12/2017 22:46

I think it's rather beautiful in a spare, minimalist kind of way

MonumentalAlabaster · 14/12/2017 22:48

There is a line in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight:
"Holly is greenest where groves are gaunt and bare"
Makes me think of that - gaunt & bare

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 14/12/2017 22:48

This would look perfect in a minimalist style home.

I always think yabu to hate on a trend that has no affect on you or your life. Live and let live.

Judydreamsofhorses · 14/12/2017 22:52

When I lived alone I had a pink tree, which I decorated with turquoise feathery birds from Paperchase, and silver bells. I loved it. Now we have a huge, real tree, which is bare round the bottom, because cat.

GreyHare · 14/12/2017 22:59

I have a festive twig and I like it, and don't give a rat arse that it offends you OP, I have a tiny little house and have cats that like to 'nest' in traditional Christmas trees so my twig is great as it doesn't support their weight, oh and presents never go under the tree until Christmas Eve and to possibly piss on you festive spirit even harder I have an angry Owl as a topper rather than an Angel Wink

I got one yesterday and I love it. It is not my second tree - actually it's my third :)

I was going to take it back unless I found the perfect spot for it and I did and it is now making me feel nice and festive.

First tree will be a big real one (not got it yet), second tree is a funky white tacky tree that is in the basement living area.

sparklytrees · 14/12/2017 23:03

I have one of these as a decoration. It's not my tree.
I have a proper Christmas tree too.

Palegreenstars · 14/12/2017 23:06

Yanbu my parents had this tree in the 90s and we still joke about me crying as they dragged the twig home to spray gold. I was mortified by my supposedly hipster parents

Victoriangirl1900 · 14/12/2017 23:07

I work at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Ironbridge the cottage I'm in is very poor the family couldn't afford a Christmas tree so we use a tree branch

Hahaha, I actually bought this tree !!

I was living in hope of a tree that would be tasteful and couldn't be arsed getting the big tree out/having to shift toys/crap about to accommodate big tree.

I put it up with plenty of colour co-ordinated gold and white tinsel/baubles.

I looked at it for about a week, then relented and put up the big tree, I felt I was cheating the kids out a proper christmas tree.

I now have 2 bloody trees up in living room Xmas Grin although at opposite ends, so its now looking very christmasy !!

trappedinsuburbia · 14/12/2017 23:10

My tree

Viviennemary · 14/12/2017 23:12

It's a nice simple tree. I wish I had one similar instead of the monstrosity that I am dreading putting up.

trappedinsuburbia · 14/12/2017 23:12

Its quite nice without the tinsel crap on it, might just undress it and keep it up for the rest of the year as a lamp type decoration.

QueenArseClangers · 14/12/2017 23:13

Ooooooh, tell us about your exciting job Victorian!
What other festive things are you doing at Iron Bridge?

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/12/2017 23:14

I love it but as everyone else is saying as a second tree, you can’t beat a traditional Christmas tree! if I had it I would keep it up all year like namesarehard in fact I’m very tempted to order it......
