Gu used to make absolutely amazing cartons of thick hot chocolate (the salted caramel stuff was incredible) but they discontinued it.

Each year I make up the Jamie Oliver recipe - I remember seeing him make it and it was thick and amazing. Mine NEVER comes out like that and have you ever tried to grate a bar of chocolate? Messy and a massive pain in the arse.

I'm yet to find a really good hot chocolate and it's become a mission. I find they're either really thin and too sweet or really bitter.

What are your favourites? Hot chocolate and waffles on Christmas Eve is essential in my house. Would love premade cartons but anything really!

Ciobar is really thick - a bit too much for me.

CaveMum · 13/12/2017 20:06

I drink the Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate which is basically just finely grated chocolate anyway!

Not cheap, but it’s my one indulgence.

kitkatsky · 13/12/2017 20:09

Whittards do an amazing salted caramel one. Just use a bit more milk to get it thicker

Ollivander84 · 13/12/2017 20:12

Second Spanish hot chocolate

MyDcAreMarvel · 13/12/2017 20:13

Costa is my favourite , which one tastes the most like that?

Butterfly1975 · 13/12/2017 20:18

Yy Whittards - they had some in TK Maxx last Christmas!

Personally I like Cadburys Blush

Bumdishcloths · 13/12/2017 20:28

Second the Charbonnel Walker one.

When pregnant I craved the Cadbury's Freddo hot chocolate Blush

lurkingnotlurking · 13/12/2017 20:32

Godiva is very good indeed

Yambabe · 13/12/2017 20:32

My chocolatier friend does these as part of her range:

PS be careful on her website, it's full of some lovely lovely chocolatey things.....

OfficeDictionary · 13/12/2017 20:34

I also came on to say Spanish hot choc, sold in a clippy tin.

AnathemaPulsifer · 13/12/2017 20:36

You can buy cartons of ready-made hot chocolate from branches of Paul (French patisserie/boulangerie).

This. Might need diluting with milk a little bit, is v thick and rich.

lurkingnotlurking · 13/12/2017 20:37

Ooh I didn't know that about Paul's. I'll get some next time I'm there

Onecreamteatoomany · 13/12/2017 20:43

Divine hot chocolate is amazing! Our local cafe serves it which is where I discovered it. Just stir into microwaved milk and it's lovely and chocolatey, not too sweet. You can get it at amazon.

CrabbitArse · 13/12/2017 20:45

Cocoa Mountain
It's fabulous Smile

shartsi · 13/12/2017 20:47

Whittard of Chelsea do nice ones

GreyMorning · 13/12/2017 20:50

Montezuma Hot chocolate is lovely.

Leanin15yearsmaybe · 13/12/2017 20:51

Not always what you use but how you make it. Slow cooker always makes it amazingly thick and creamy. Yesterday I even used a Tesco drinking choc (with a nice dollop of Nutella!) and it was amazing

Doilooklikeatourist · 13/12/2017 20:55

this one

thelikelylass · 13/12/2017 21:03

Charbonnel walker does the trick. M and S currently have small packets of hot choc in festive packing, this too is tasy but don't buy it now. I bought mine in sale for pennies so then it becomes even tastier!

JeffJarrett · 13/12/2017 21:05

M&S festive one is indeed lovely. I've had my first cup of the season tonight Smile

I think it's just grated dark chocolate, delicious and not too sweet.

teaortequila23 · 13/12/2017 21:10

I’ve tried a lot and my winner is options hot chocolate made with milk in a saucepan.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 13/12/2017 21:12

If you like your hot chocolate with marshmallows, this is the one for you -- it's absolutely gorgeous...
