A trailer for the tv comedy Gameface had the line which went something like "Don't pick up the cat. He's just eaten a kebab." This was on tv weeks ago and I still break into a smile when I think of it. AIBU to ask this or just slightly doolally but what other one liners from comedy programmes do people still find funny no matter how many times they hear it or how long ago it was last on tv? Another one that springs to my crazy mind is Basil Fawlty saying "Is this a piece of your brain" to the annoying woman who wouldn't turn her hearing aid on because it used up the batteries. Smile

overnightangel haha I love that!

And also can't believe another poster has said the exact line that I lose it at, where partridge is working the check out " you go careful there my love" 😂😂

Anything partridge gets me though haha

thecolonelbumminganugget · 10/12/2017 11:36

I agree with the other posters, GameFace is an absolute triumph and I think it deserves at lot more attention than it got. I hope there's a lot more of it.

I send my brother 2 birthday cards every year, one from me and one from 'all the lads on the ark royal'

B excited fo new league of gentlemen. Any time anyone has a map I rush over & finger over it shouting ‘lines and lines and lines!’

Not enough map reading nowadays. I blame satnavs

SparklyMagpie · 10/12/2017 12:35

treaclesoda thank you for reminding me of my love for flight of the concords, one of my faves is

" you're so beautiful.... You could be an air hostess in the 60's" and " let's get in a cab... I'll buy you a KEBAAAAB" 😂😂

SparklyMagpie · 10/12/2017 12:42

Actually thinking about it... The whole song😂

" you're so beautiful... Like a... Dream... Or a high class prostitute "

Know what I'll be watching tonight when DS is in bed haha

Lemond1fficult · 10/12/2017 12:46

@whifflesqueak VERY glad you mentioned that Thick Of It one. Wink

MissClareRemembers · 10/12/2017 12:47

From Dinnerladies

“Hurry up and sign it Bren. I’ve got an itchy bum.”

“Of course, like a lot of very well dressed people he was gay.”

ptumbi · 10/12/2017 12:48

Ah - Black Books! I remember the sketch where bernard is so depressed he sits in the bath for days. Manny sticks his head to the tiles with duck tape in an effort to stop him slipping under the water.

Bernard I like it.

Cracks me up!

Frazier - David Hyde Pierce is a comedy genius - great timing. The xmas dinner episode is a classic.

LittleWingSoul · 10/12/2017 12:52

Mine is from an episode of Harry and Paul when they parody Dragons Den and Harry's sweaty, nervous character presenting to the dragons is called 'Brian Farnet, from Friern Barnet'. Makes me and DH laugh every time we quote it... And clearly every Brian we ever meet or see on telly in Brian Farnet from Friern Barnet!

LittleWingSoul · 10/12/2017 12:53

@SparklyMagpie ou est le pampelmousse? Grin

Love flight of the concords! So many good quotes.

SparklyMagpie · 10/12/2017 12:56

LittleWingSoul foux Du fafa? 😂

LittleWingSoul · 10/12/2017 13:03

Soooo good. I found the box sets while unearthing Xmas Decs he other day, may have to get a watch tonight!

Bret? Present
Jemaine? Present

... in Murray's thick NZ accent is just too funny as well!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 10/12/2017 13:15

We use "bear with" from Miranda a lot here.

And Dad's Army "do you think that's wise?".

DingleBerries · 10/12/2017 13:19

1- Top Gear when they spent a night in a tiny car next to a haunted woods and one of them was reading about the haunted woods and said “A head teacher was found hanging by his pupils.”
And Hammond said “Hanging by his pupils?!”

That was about 12 years ago and it still makes me chuckle.

2- In Bottom when they were in the park and Eddie saw a hedgehog and thought it was a Womble.

hungryradish · 10/12/2017 13:25

This thread is great.

Sometimes I just read Peep Show quotes online to cheer me up. I recommend you do the same - you will definitely lol.

'People voted for the nazis & listen to Coldplay, Jez, you can't trust people.!'

StrictlyCalmanDancing · 10/12/2017 13:37

Similarly to others it's not a quote but my favourite Frasier moment has to be this and every time I iron I giggle thinking of it

hungryradish · 10/12/2017 13:38

Also so many from The Mighty Boosh.

Howard - 'I've got edge.'

Vince - 'you're as edgy as a satsuma.'

SparklyMagpie · 10/12/2017 13:50

LittleWingSoul Murray is by far my favourite,I love him Grin

Also Jermaine, my 2 per goldfish were named Brett and Jermaine years ago 😂

EsmesBees · 10/12/2017 14:15

Whenever we are somewhere that sells underwear, one of us quotes the 'Ireland's largest lingerie department' line from the Father Ted Christmas Special.

And if anyone mentions Dorchester, we quote the bit from Fawlty Towers where the customer mishears Sybil and is impressed that the chef used to work at the Dorchester, which she corrects to 'no, in Dorchester, about 40 miles from here'

RoseRuby26 · 10/12/2017 14:29

Friends:
Do you know any bird calls?
Oh tons...I'm quite the woodsman.

The IT crowd:
When's moss has a desk fire and he has to call the new 999 emergency number .

MummaGiles · 10/12/2017 14:33

Mine is from when Adam Buxton was presenting never mind the buzzcocks (so a long time ago). He has an act where he reads out comments on YouTube videos but doesn’t correct any of the spelling and grammar error, Just reads it as written. It wouldn’t translate very well written down on here but you really should dig out the YouTube clip of it.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/12/2017 14:35

Another dinnerladies quote:

Bren: Everywhere in Scotland is spelt Ecclefechan and pronounced Kirkcudbright!

DeadButDelicious · 10/12/2017 14:43

It's not a line but a scene, from What We Do In The Shadows. I crack up, every time.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=-KyUmAOtGa0

DeadButDelicious · 10/12/2017 14:50

I do have a line! When Clinton Baptiste the psychic medium visits the Phoenix Club,

"I'm getting a word... Nonce!"

spankhurst · 10/12/2017 14:57

Haven’t read the whole thread but the first few pages had me crying.
From Mighty Boosh
I told you not to mess with the occult!
I thought it was good for you.
That’s Yakult!
