to ask you to help me understand my bloody bathroom scales?

Have put on weight, trying to get a grip on it.

My digital scales show:
10.13.2 stone/pounds
69kg

when I looked it up online 69kg is 10.8 stone.
Am I just misunderstanding the 10.8 - is it and eighth of stone rather than 10.8 pounds?
Maths has never been my strong point and I've thoroughly confused myself.

Downside: whatever it is, I still way far too much! Maybe I should just throw them out of the window?

.8 of a stone isn’t an eighth of a stone. It’s eight-tenths (8/10) of a stone.

You're correct of course. My mistake!
The calculation method I used is still correct (0.8 x 14) = .8 of a stone = 8/10 of a stone.

Something else I've found - if you ask what the conversion is to stones then you get one answer, and a different answer if you ask for the conversion to stones and pounds. Why? Because of what everyone's saying, confusion between decimals and pounds (lbs)

If you ask for the answer in stones, they'll give it as, eg, 10.8 "ten point eight" stones, ie 10 stones plus 0.8 (ie eight tenths) of a stone.

But a stone contains 14 lbs, so eight-tenths of a stone is eight tenths of 14 lbs, ie a bit over 11lbs.

So if you ask it to convert to stones and lbs, it'll give the answer as 10.11 (ie ten stone and 11 lbs)

They look different, but they're the same weight, but in different notations.
