Should I report friends daughter for benefit fraud....

In fact I'm not even sure what she is doing is fraud it just strikes me as wrong.

18 months ago they had a second child. Three months later her and her husband "split up" and he moved back in with his mother.

I know her landlady is having to sell up next year.........she used to be my landlady and we know her well.

They've actually separated so that she gets housed as a single mother and then they intend on getting back together.

Problem is they have done it properly as if they have actually split up so probably aren't breaking any laws. Still stinks.

If you have this much spare time and energy then spend it campaigning for a decent housing policy in this country - not condemning people because they are forced to resort to such desperate measures to have a chance of a decent life for their kids.

laudanum · 08/12/2017 16:54

I'm quite sure it's none of your bloody business. 😒

diaimchlo · 08/12/2017 17:43

You should not even contemplate reporting anyone for fraud unless you are 100% certain of your facts and can back them up, which in my humble opinion, you are not! you are being 100% judgemental relying and drawing conclusions on hearsay is so wrong!

Have you thought how much this Mother and children are going to have to go through when your friend the landlady sells up? The council will not rehouse till the bailiffs call to actually evict them from their home. Then they will be plonked in terrible temporary accommodation for God knows how long......

Also another thing is that this couple could have split up but keep up an amicable relationship for the sake of their children have you actually thought about this????

So YES UABVU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chiaseeddisapointmentagain · 08/12/2017 17:44

What are you going to gain from it?

DontTouchTheMoustache · 08/12/2017 17:50

I really hope this is just a GF and that people this vindictive don't really walk amongst us.
Also, they havent broken any of the rules op so you would just be wasting everybody's time.

loopylou6 · 08/12/2017 18:03

Wind your neck in and stop bring an interfering busy body. Maybe get yourself a hobby or something Hmm

Bratsandtwats · 08/12/2017 18:32

Pictish Vulnerable and powerless? The have-nots?

Really? Thats what you think? They know full well what they are doing is wrong.

specialsubject · 08/12/2017 18:53

As always, the landlady gets the mn sheep bleating for selling up . circumstances , can't afford to run it, getting out of the business due to forthcoming changes ( or existing ones if Scotland)...

Nothing to stop them renting another place.

PersianCatLady · 08/12/2017 18:57

Sorry I might have missed it but exactly what benefit is this person currently fraudulently claiming?

PortiaCastis · 08/12/2017 19:01

Single Mums like me do not take precedence on our waiting list, you have to wait years same as everyone else. My your own bloody business and save your snooping for the tax avoiders

CosmicCanary · 08/12/2017 19:02

Why do you want to report her?

pictish · 08/12/2017 19:02

Brats don't be thick. Look at the bigger picture if you can.

RunningOutOfCharge · 08/12/2017 19:02

It's not fraudulent!

However if you insist on finding fraud.... are they still together now? Is he staying over most nights? If so and she's on income support or uc then that would be fraud. But not housing

Does he work?

MiraiDevant · 08/12/2017 19:03

It's a very common practice I'm afraid. One reason I hate the benefits system. Split up, DP moves back in with his mum, worth a fortune as CTC, WTC, HB are all higher. If you have to get a job keep your hours down to 30 hours and your earnings low - we all know it's true.

Why bother working, forming a family, waiting in line for your council house when there is a quicker way and a more profitable way?

SIckening

CosmicCanary · 08/12/2017 19:09

Helloooo OP Why do you want to report her?

SandAndSea · 08/12/2017 19:10

Definitely mind your own business.

If you want to complain about something look into corporation tax, MP expenses and banker salaries.

RunningOutOfCharge · 08/12/2017 19:11

mirai put like that does put a different slant on things..

PortiaCastis · 08/12/2017 19:12

Always amazes me how much folk know about others business.

kaytee87 · 08/12/2017 19:14

Op are you being goady about benefits or housing because they're two different things?
How on Earth do you even know any of this anyway?

HappyVan · 08/12/2017 19:16

Mind your own business.

PortiaCastis · 08/12/2017 19:19

I blame C5

MiraiDevant · 08/12/2017 19:44

There are three issues:
1 Is it anyone else's business? Opinion is divided. Individualism v Collective society/social responsibility

2 Is she cheating? Sounds as if she is not. Fine. She is quite rightly doing what is best for her within the system as it is

3 Is the system fair? Does it reward the actions or behaviour that we want to encourage?

The third is really where we can change things if we want to. The question is to whose advantage is the system? Who does not want it changed? Does it work for big business? (yes it does ). Does it create an easily controlled population? I would say it does.

PortiaCastis · 08/12/2017 19:46

Why are tax dodgers allowed to cheat society

MiraiDevant · 08/12/2017 19:58

They are not. If they are evading/ dodging they get done for it. They either do or don't get reported. They either do or don't get caught

If what they are doing is legal - same story. If we don't like it we need to change the system
