To find a lot of Christmas songs quite depressing

Do you like Christmas songs? Every time I'm out now and they're on quite loud I feel like leaving the shop. I was thinking that 'it will be lonely this Christmas' and 'so this is Christmas' both of which I heard today are quite depressing anyway. I think a lot of them are quite depressing and I don't really like them. AIBU?

I must admit I find some Christmas songs a bit sad and depressing,e.g. Wham - Last Christmas,So this is Christmas - John Lennon and the Band Aid song. But I love Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas is You,also Slade's Merry Christmas Everyone and Wizzard's I Wish it could be Christmas every day. The last 2 bring back happy memories of Christmases when I was about 9 or 10 years old and watching Top of the Pops on Christmas day.

@The80sweregreat I think he's more of a universal figure - a sort of every soldier if you like. He talks about marching through the centuries or something similar and I think by Stop The Cavalry he means stop all wars; it's not just about WWI. I guess he had to choose one particular outfit though because it would have been weird if he were dressed in a mishmash.

A lot are melancholic, Jonah Leweys Stop The Cavalry is quite sad ( trumpets are annoying, though).
I remember feeling really sad as a child hearing Slade sing "it's only just begun", and thinking Christmas was nearly over.
Wizzard and Boney M are jolly songs, though.

There has been an African riposte to Band-Aid - hilarious.
